Hi everyone,
Greeting ! Im new to the forum : )

I have an EK9 with stock suspension and im thinking of getting a set of semi for local causal track days etc R888.

Would the extra grip cause too much load on the stock suspension ? Is the stock suspension strong enough for the extra lateral force?

Cheers.

Yes it will be fine, no issues at all.
Stock suspension is very high quality on them :)

From what I hear mate and my ej9 had EK9 suspension it will be fine
Plenty of guys on here running on track on stock suspension
Should have no problems what so ever
After all the R does stand for race ;)

So long as all your bushings are in good condition, it won't cause any real issues, though you might end up with quite a bit of roll, which may end up with you wearing the outer edge of the tyre excessively.

thanks guy, apprecaite your prompt response !

I would love to upgrade the stock suspension but everything here in New Zealand is so expensive :( And good quality 2nd hand suspensions are virtually impossible to source in here.

Looks like Ground Control + Koni yellow is my only realistic option given the small budget to work with...

To my ek9 on its first track day yesterday, stock suspension running r888's and it performed fantastic. Even in the wet they were superb. Get some 888's and book ya self some track time :)

If that's your budget option then you are lucky, over here it's an expensive setup!

oh really? you mean GC/Koni combo is expensive in UK ?

over here they are considerably cheaper than any JDM brands coilover setups(and in fact Im just going to import them from US)...

My budget only allows:
1)GC/koni or Skunk2 similar kit/koni
2)BC Gold (not Buddy club)
3)XYZ Racing shocks - which is unheard to me and i cant find much info on web about it

GC Koni all day over those Tiawanese 'JDM' products. Koni is the default choice for performance minded Honda owners across the US, for everything from daily driven hacks to full blown race cars. BC and XYZ are left for the kids that just want to slam their ride.

I would like a set for my Accord (well Bilstein/GC) but the import charges make it a bit too pricey over a set of springs.
