Hi All,

i currently have my EG6 sir2 for sale and i can honestly say I've never had this much time wasting go on in my entire life, if it's not someone offering me sub £2k for the car it's people committing to buy the car then the night before collection messaging saying "an emergency's happened" or the "funds havent showed in my account i'll check with the bank".

I honestly can't believe how many people waste your time, have i just been unlucky or have others suffered this?

Anyway, I no longer have the space to store my car or time for it so if anyone's interested please see the blue EG6 SIR2 in the for sale section, this weekend the first £2700 in my hand cash buys the car.

Nick.

my cars on for £550 and the amount of time wasters is unbelievable.

No your not on your own, the amount of timewasters I've had is truly phenomenal too!

If it's the blue EG6 I'm thinking of I'd snap it up in a heartbeat, sadly I'm 18 so the insurance would be a killer, and I'm between jobs at the moment :(

Selling cars in general these days are a pain in the backside

Yeah nothing is selling just now mate, bad times :((

its not just you my black ek9 is for sale and all im getting is people looking swaps with cars that arent worth half the value of it!disaster

I put my corolla T sport on ebay and it didn't sell, but after the auction I had about 5 people message me asking if i would take less than half the starting bid for it. absolute jokers! good luck with selling your car mate.

Thanks for all the responses guys I've honestly never known anything like it, I wonder if the economic state of the country has caused a lack of money in the used car market?

:(

IMO its got nothing to do with the economic climate, its just how the private sector of the market is, the Trade sector also. people come, test drive, you work out a price then the "i need to check insurence, satate of my balance & OK it with the mrs but i will definetly let you know either way" part and.....notthing. people take this piss, its just how it is lol

My EK9 has just sold today after being on pistonheads for only 6 days. I guess it's all down to luck of the draw. There's definitely buyers out there...

But i appreciate it's easy for me to say that given my situation.

No offence dude , and i know you mean well , but this is exactly the sort of thing nick is talking about.

SO many people WANT or WOULD have bought the car but no one actually turns up and buys it..

Nick, i think its simply the nature of the cars we sell and buy.. A friend of mine advertised his clio 2004 1.4 in the local paper and sold it the same weekend.

people just can't afford to own cars like these anymore.. part of me doesn't understand the whole low balling thing.. Like its for sale at £3000 then people offer you £1750 i just don't understand .. i cannot comprehend it.

Where is the for sale thread?

Under super clean EG6 sir2 in the cars for sale section Lee.

Yeah perhaps I've just been unlucky, I guess we'll see how it goes next week.

Madness Chris, you wouldn't believe some of the offers im getting!

2nd hand cars are getting harder everyday to sell, with main dealers throwing deals like pcp about meaning you can validly change your car every 3 years no problems

You're doing it wrong. I put mine up for sale and had 7 calls in 24 hours and a deposit within 48 hours. Collected a week later and paid £100 OVER the asking price.

pre-tell how to do it correctly?

Price it to sell, not what you think it's worth.

I don't know the details of the car but unless it's a clean, original, low mileage example I would have to say no. Scene tax makes all old Hondas stupidly overpriced compared to other marques, £2700 is a lot for an 18-20 year old hatchback.

As you've stated, you're only attracting day dreamers that think it's still worth that price, anyone else will see far better value in an EP3, a Golf GTI or any number of other options. Eventually you might get lucky with a die hard fan who's actually got some money, but if you want it to sell quickly then you're gonna have to drop the price to reflect the market.
