I have been trying to upgrade my rotors. I have got to the point where I am using a impact driver to unscrew the two screws holding the rotor on the hub and I have come across a problem. My impact driver heads are weak and has snapped off into the screw.

Does anyone know a way to get it out?

Here is a picture of it

Get a punch and make a dent in the screw then angle the punch so when you hit it where the debt is it turns the screw :)

Or use a large drill and drill the screw head out, thrn the rotor should come off, the remains of the screw will twist out easily after.

Take the caliper off, hit the back of the disc hard and this stretches the screw. Then try just another impact driver.
If all else fails just keep hitting the disc and snap heads off of screws as they are not really needed.

Thats what I'd do, you'll need a new screw but it's by far the easiest way :nice:

Screws are only there to stop disc falling off when wheel is off, wheel nuts hold the disc securely

Oh, well I thought he just wanted to know how to get the screw out? I must have misunderstood

Mis understanding here.
I agree with your method, was just saying don't panic too much about replacing the screw. :)

Cheers guys for your help, I managed to get the bit out of the screw by hitting it with a hammer and a drill bit. I also got a refund for my Halfords impact driver and bought another one from machine mart.

The Halfords impact driver I had was so weak and rubbish.
