Hi guys, some of you will remember me from years gone by as I was a retailer on here. I've had a fair few Hondas but never actually had a Civic until now, so I'll hopefully be a bit more active on here. My last Honda was probably the best known car I've had, a K20 swapped yellow DC2 with "K20 YO" private plate, which I sold to get an Elise.

I certainly wasn't expecting to be back in a Honda so soon. I got offered this while I had my Elise. My intention was to sell or break this car but I fell in love with it, really brought back memories from when I was 18/19 with my old CRX VTECs and that savage B16 VTEC kick! So I've decided to sell the Elise and dedicate the EK9 to track use.

This EK9 came to me with a very good spec, well looked after and it doesn't need a lot spending on it;

Engine & Transmission

Unknown "Ebay" intake
Tegiwa 4-2-1 Exhaust Manifold
Tegiwa 2.5" decat
Mugen Twinloop exhaust system
NGK leads
Exedy OEM clutch
RPC lightweight flywheel
Tegiwa engine mounts
Tegiwa dual width Alloy rad
Tegiwa silicone radiator hoses

Suspension

Racing Logic Hyper Street coilovers
Skunk2 Pro Series front camber arms
Skunk2 Pro series rear camber arms
Skunk2 gold rear lower control arms (to be replaced with OEM)
Tegiwa gold rear lower tie bar (to be removed & sold)

Exterior

Tegiwa carbon fibre bonnet
Facelift bumper & wings fitted (badly)

Wheels & Brakes

OEM wheels with Hankook RS2 (road)
OEM wheels with Toyo R888s (track)
Ferodo DS2500 pads front & rear
RBP grooved discs front & rear

Extras & factory options

Air con removed

Within the last 6 months it's had a full service with cambelt, the clutch/flywheel, all new suspension components as well as new engine mounts. The best part is the previous owner paid me to fit the parts to what is now my car, so it owes me very little indeed! The plan is to fit a decent airbox as it just has some no-name open filter on it at the moment, get an S80 gearbox with a shorter final drive and strip it out with some fixed buckets and harnesses. Really don't want to change anything internal on the engine, I just want to have some track day fun for relatively little money :)

First mod for the "Chavic" was to get the bonnet pinned as it was flapping about a fair bit. I left it in the capable hands of Andy at work and he worked his magic. The result - perfectly fitted aero catches and the bonnet is steady as a rock.

Here are some pics from fitting (I think the template drawing was a little too detailed)

Looking great, hard to beat the feel of a proper old gen type-r!

Looks a nice example, front bumper and lights could do with picking up a bit though to improve those gaps,
Other than that it seems tidy

Cheers all. To be honest, I'm not too worried about the front panel alignment, it's not going to be in any show and shines lol.

Bit more progress made on the Civic, using it for the commute for the next couple of weeks so I can't go too mad.

It came with some gold lower control arms and a brace, it's not really my kind of thing so I set of work removing them and putting the OEM ones back on with new droplinks.

After; (can't really see the stock arms, but then that's the point I guess!)

Also set about taking the cone filter off and putting a Tegiwa Mugen style airbox on with a silicone intake hose, perks of the job ;)

A pic of that fitted, other than the eventual removal of the ABS system the bay shouldn't change from how it looks above.

After playing about with the MFactory gear calculator I decided an S80 wasn't really worth it. So instead I've ordered an MFactory 4.92 final drive (another perk!), stock is 4.4 so it should make a good difference and down-gear it to about 135-140 max speed, plenty for track. Can't wait to get that fitted!
