HI GUYS, i have a question about getting a new motor installed and the process of getting it smoged tested and registered. say i get a gsr installed into my ej? will it pass smog and if i get pulled over by the cops and they check under my hood how do i explain the motor without getting my car impounded or worst :wow: . basically how can i roll around with a b series motor and keep it legit???? :thanks: :thanks:

you need to have your car bar'd, you can pick up some paperwork that explains the process from your local referee station, but here is some minor stuff you need to know and this is for the state of CA and may not apply to any other states:

-the gsr swap must be the same year or newer than the vehicle its going into
-the original car (the ej6) must maintain ALL of its smog equipment, technically this makes any swap into an ej6 illegal since the ej6 has its cat in the factory manifold but if you relocate it to 96-00 EX style cat by putting it under the shift linkage you should be fine as long as its an obdII cat and makes sure who ever puts it on has the exhuast flanged propler so it looks damn near stock!
-naturally the motor has to pass the sniffer
-timing has to be accurate
-keep the stock intake/header/exhauast on there if you can

thats basically it.
