I know a fair few users on here have rollcages, so was looking for your opinions on the rollcages you have.

Such as:

How many points: 8pt, 9pt, etc?
Bolt in or Weld?
Door Bars?
Dash Dodger or through dash?
Cost (if you dont mind sharing)

Open to all ideas/styles/recommendations so please let me know!

Ideally

How many points: As many as poosible
Bolt in or Weld?: Weld
Door Bars?: Definitely
Dash Dodger or through dash?: Through dash and into engine bay
Cost: around £1800 fully fitted

This will be my next step after i sell my bolt in cage

Got a half cage done for now loop round with a x and two seat belt points weld in one £550 :D

Ian sell me your bolt in one and get custom cage weld in one.

i have spoken to custom cages about forum discount if we get a group buy going we can get like 20% off

i need one soon ready for track need to finish interior aswell.

I would love to but unfortunately its a job for next winter after the moving house and track season is over.

I definitely can't find that sort of money at the mo. :(

Sorry mate, didnt explain it very well - meant what cages did people personally have and would they recommend them, etc.

I have a bolt in cusco safety 21 6 point cage and i have also seem welded it in.I prefer the dash dodger to be honest but thats just personal preference

Was thinking about this myself.

Safety 21, 6 point dash dodger. Seems like a good one.

All depends what your going to be using it for and how far you want to go.

As for me i dont want to butcher my dash and i want to have the ability to keep the rears seats but also have removable door bars and rear X brace. I suppose the EG6 rear seats with the gap eaither side might help. I may even add some extra bars welded in beside the foot well to the bottom of the bulkhead as i dont really trust the dash dodgers.

Would prefer more than a 6 point myself! the rear diagonal provides additional safety in the event of a roll as well as joining the rear of the cage and adding aditional bracing

safety 21 cages are good, fitted a 8 point one to my mates car today and the quality/fit is good

only thing is the joins of the cage are not solid flanged joints so you could have some pivot in the joins, also the dash dodging safety 21 cages have curvey legs round the dash - not MSA compliant as this creates a slight weakpoint

this is being picky, you will of course notice a difference in stiffness and safety than if you had no cage at all.

safety 21 do some compliant cages which have straight front legs but they go through the dash, so a hassle to fit, however much stronger

best bolt in cages out there have to be Safety Devices

b-pillar loop, rear legs and diagonal are all 1 piece welded, so stiff as ****. front legs, front upper bar and door bars all fit on with proper flanged joints so no movement at all. the front legs dodge the dash but at straight and don't curve so you stay MSA compliant

IMO you want a cage with door bars and a single rear diagonal minimum. rear cross bar is not neccesary if you have a decent rear strut brace

looking at about 700 new for a safety devices :)

Was waiting for you to chime in :naughty:

I wasnt going to go with a cage at first, was going to see how it felt without one and then get one once I felt the car needed it.. but I cant be assed to get the inside resprayed twice so.

If I get one it will have door bars/through dash, etc, and pref weld in.

depends what you use the car for imo
full weld in cages are defo what i would go for if i had the money

although ive got a safety 21 9 point, getting in and out with the door bars can get annoying! i did get mine for real cheap though XD

for any cage i would want more than 6 and like steven said, at least a single rear diagonal

Kay, I been speaking to custom-cages to, but not about a group buy.

How many people do they need for a group buy?

and which cage have you been looking at on there?

Cheers
