So since my cage was due to go in before the 'ring trip, I wanted to make sure I had some decent padding to go on any area's that would be near my head/arms/body. So I brought some of this:

OMP Racing Dealer, OMP Gloves, OMP Roll Cages, OMP Racing Equipment - YB Racing

Only problem is, it's shite. I mean you only have to look hard at this stuff and it tears. It's literally been on the car a few days and it's already starting to look tatty.

I've googled around a fair bit but can't find much that is the right size (40mm I/D) that comes in decent lengths.

Does anyone know of any decent stuff out there?

Could you use rubber insulation tubes with cable ties or would that just be tacky?

Im using Demon tweeks stuff mate, Easy to install and is pretty Good, although its not FIA approved it is flame proof.

Would give you a link but the demon tweeks website aint working on my computer at the moment.

Its £8.99 for 900mm (i think), quite expensive but its good stuff

We use this:

I'm pretty sure it came from Demon Tweeks, but like Dunsy says, their website doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

thats why we have MSA an FIA regs to set the standard for safety equipment :nice:

there is a type of lagging plumers use for insulation that is highly heat resilient/ non flammable, try looking at plumbcenter.co.uk or cityplumbing.co.uk

Thanks for the help guys. Problem with the Demon Tweeks stuff is it's supplied in such short lengths I'll have to buy huge amounts to cover all the area's I want to cover (B-pillar hoop and everything forwards of that).

For example, to cover the whole of the B pillar hoop will take a good 3-4 pieces, and there'll be joins in it too!

The stuff I got originally was perfect in this respect, since it came on a 2m roll, it just tears all over the place. I have considered covering it in something to stop the tearing, but electrical tape was all i could think of to use, and it would look wank.

Perhaps heat shrink give the smooth look I'm after?

Hockey Stick tape is sometimes used, its like a fabric tape and is pretty durable, although its not that Smooth
