First of all, Just want to clarify that I am not saying Mtec discs are the worst things in the world or saying not to buy them. But I just want to show what the Black edition slotted discs had done to my pads.

Front Pads

and how they looked when they arrived.

I've not heard any problems elsewhere about these discs but from this you can see the paint has taken out a good chunk out my pads! The rear discs have been cleaned out nicely after usage, but on the front you can still see that line of paint still on the disc and built up on the grooves.

When they were first ran by my mechanic, a judder noise can be heard from the brakes and this was because of the thick layer of powder coat on the discs. And when I first went for a run, it felt kinda sticky. Wouldn't recommend the black editions to anyone. The pads/ discs have been cleaned out now and everything feels fine.

Interesting read! What pads were/are you using? I've just ordered some mtec grooved discs but just in standard uncoated finish! Hopefully they perform well as if they do they are very well priced!

raised this issue with freaky parts on your thread. I don't think they will be much of a problem except the lack of communication you had with them. :(

Intrested to know what pads you were using? Were they new, seem to have plenty of meat on them.

I only ask as i was planning of matching these discs with a set of nissin/oem pads.

I'll pass the feedback over to Mtec.
It is however the first instance I've heard of this happening with the coated discs. I even had a set of silver ones for the race car and didn't have any issues.

No problems with your sliders or anything like that was there? Also good to hear what pads you're using. Just so I can let them know that too.

i bought the black coated aswell no problems myself either

What pads? This has been asked 3 times now. I have a feeling you using crappy chinese generic pads and blaming the discs. If i am wrong please tell us what pads you are using, this is the fourth request for such info.

Obviously this is a bad "team work". Good discs, but pads are not at its level.

If it was good pads with a bad quality disc, disc should look ruined. And pad should seem indifferent.

If you look at the disc, there is a line. It is material of the pad... the disc is in good condition while the pads are "desintegrating"...

Maybe these are not OEM, just OEM-like, aftermarket. But the threat starter could tell us. :naughty:

Sorry for not being able to come on and reply. Think they are fredo pads. But yeah plenty of meat in them. Lol being a Chinese type, I jus wouldn't trust my own people's products so I'm with you on that one :/ except the food, love mum's cooking :/

My mechanic has already fitted the black editions on a dc2 and a dc5 and they never had any problems. He wasn't too happy with the amount of coating in my one though and was quite skeptical of them. As said these are feredo pads. When he first went for a run in them he could feel the stickiness on the brakes. But it had gone after some use. The rear pads were also quite sticky. Wouldn't move in first gear, and there's a winding noise coming from the rear at about 40mph onwards (bearings have been replaced)

So I took the car back to my mechanic after two weeks and that's what we found above. After cleaning the pads and discs, everything is fine! Feels dead responsive! I just wanted to point this out to your supplier who make the black edition discs. Not criticising the uncoated ones.

Thanks

Hmmm so.. What you are saying I should be making a reveiw about feredo pads should not be used on black coated discs? The coat on the discs was really thick.
