jus looking for ideas on how to restore the rubber trim on the outside of the car?? am thinking maybe like the headlights with a bit of fine sandpaper. anybody have any good methods?

There are kits to buff the headlights, i believe 3M makes one.

i use meguairs trim detalier but doesnt last that long, i think once outer rubber/plastics have faded/worn they simply need to be replaced as gettin them lookin new again isnt possible

use smooth peanut button.. its sounds mad but some how it makes them black again.
i guess only do that if you have a black car though lol

T-Cut , 3m compound etc is great , especially on wind deflectors and faded headlights

If your trying to restore the black trims, like around the windows and the roof strips, then you can use black shoe polish. apply with a brush, then buff off with a clean brush.

It gives a satin finish, not glossy, and will last for ages.

Thats not a bad idea, I used Tyre Dress, and i have to admit it didnt come out too bad. :nice:

Linseed oil is also an option as v cheap and restores black for a good while.
Alot of the VW boys use it.
