Respray - Removing windows

Hi, I'm having my ek9 resprayed. I've had my friend who works for a reputable car glass company, come out to have a look at removing them for me. He says he wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Just wondering what I should do? There's no way I'm going to try and take them out myself. Should I just have the windows masked?

Any help would be appreciated
 
we get the strangest questions, none of which are bad questions!

Mask them off if you can not remove them. Not that removing them is difficult, but I guess that depends on skill level, or lack of? lol:wow:
 
Lol, he just didn't want to crack/smash them! Hmm, I think i'll just have the guys at the bodyshop remove them, if they break, they break.
 
Why didn't he want to take them out?? Why are they more difficult to take out than other cars??...if your getting a respray it will look soo much better with the windows taken out. you'll be able to tell its been resprayed if you don't take the windows out. Do it right and take the windows out :nice:
 
Have to agree do it once and do it right! Your side windows can be cut out easily then bonded back in when you have it painted. Any glass window comPany can do this.
It's the rear hatch window s the problem, as when you cut it out you ll not be able to reuse the rubber round it....
 
Thanks for the advice guys. I will deffo get them removed. He didn't want to remove the rear incase it shattered. As said I think I'll just get the bodyshop to remove. Thanks again dudes !

i have one spare rear one left over from my re-shell if they smash one- when the guy came to get the roof off my old shell he tried to remove one of the rear ones with the tool and it shattered hence ive only got one rear quater
 
i got my ek repainted about 6 months ago, i don't know what the guy did but there's kind of dull scratch marks on the windows from where he took them out. it's very hard to notice, but they're still there. for the price i paid it's not worth complaining (plus the guy got deported to pakistan.. haha). but yeah, that's just my experience.
 
defo take out the windows mate,seen it done without windows out and as said you no its been done
 
Get the windows out ..All of mines were removed for my respray although the windscreen smashed...and the windscreen of another ek also smashed on me lol
