rear subframe brace?

Is this how all subframes tear? I was looking round for pics as I will do my own reinforcement at some stage.
Has anyone seen pics of reinforcment plates others have added.

ek9 rear subframe/crossmember is different on ek9, its thicker to accept thicker arb and also had additional brackets to accept oem lower tie bar that ek9 has

oem ek9 subframe showing oem lower tie on factory brackets and area highlighted is thicker

pic of my ek4 running ek9 arb, bad idea

im in process of having ek9 subframe fitted now as difference between ek4 and ek9 arb is big, roll is reduced so much more with ek9 arb

Sorry to ressurect this thread but i am going to fit an EK9 ARB to my project EK4 and was going to make up some brackets because the EK9 ARB will not fit the EK4 rear subframe.

Looking at some of these pics, is it a good idea?!

Will an ASR brace let me do this safely?

I do eventually intend to track my car a bit.

youll need the asr brace, ive since had ek9 subframe welded onto my car to replace the ek4 subframe

To fit an ek9 22mm arb or an asr arb to an ek4 you will need the asr brace if thats what you mean?

Think thats what he means. And i figure you'd need one either way, although EK9 ARB;s are much cheaper if bought seperatly.

I got a mint one very reasonably, but didn't realise i'd need a strengthening brace. I was gonna make brackets but thats gone out the window if the ARB will tear them clean off lol!:nerv:

Hi there

I know this might have been asked a lot before, but I will just ask it again. HeHe

I have 96 EJ6 Hatch, if I wanted to add a front and rear sway bar setup, what are the parts which I can source from the dealer?

Fronts -
Which LCA, Sway bar,Endlinks should i source from the dealer. What else should I source out?

Rears -
Aside from the ASR subframe (just the bracket itself), what should and which can I source from the dealer?
Trailing arms.sway bar,endlinks?

Because I can source out with a great deal of discount if I can get from the dealer.

Any input is greatly appreciated. I am also located here in Canada. If that would make any difference in codes (CX/DX/Si and such)

Cheers!

For the front to run the ARB, get everything from the SiR.

This includes the front LCA, endlinks, swaybar - you can opt to use Energy Suspension bushings for the swaybar though.

There's nothing you'd want from the dealership for the rear if you plan on running an EK9 rear sway. No 6th gen USDM car ever came with a sway bar that large.

Where can you purchase an OEM EK9 rear subframe? I will be welding on that instead of bracing and praying.

Why?! ASR will work out way cheaper in the long run and will be every bit as good as the OEM EK9 subframe.

x2

Wouldn't bother welding in an ek9 subframe when you can just buy a brace that will make it just as good

i know its not as good as asr ,its a cheap one, but it works very well for street use:drive: and also for my ej9 which had no sway bar at all!

i know this has been asked before, but would be somewhat dangerous to run this instead of an ASR brace,

Welcome to Beaks Products

it is a Beaks reinforcement kit.

or if I am just using 22mm bar, street use, will be safe? i mean not tearing out the subframe?

i also have Tein SS on mt ek hatch.

thanks
