rear subframe brace?

EK9 doesnt need this because its factory standard.

Your EJ6 will benefit from this for sure. Slightly better than the OEM EK9.

larger rear swaybar promotes oversteer.

ASR is good product, but as Jugz states..no need on EK9 as it is factory reinforced.

any pix on the Ek9 factory stardard one? btw isnt the stanard one 22mm and this one is 24 mm? (so does the ek9 oversteer more than the Ej6 due to the standard sway bar?)

as said above this is for the US market cars that have a weak rear subframe, the EK9 has a much stronger subframe, even with the brace our sway bars still tear out some times, the ek9 stock rear subframe is stronger than a US one with a brace.

Try looking under your car?

standard EK9 is 22 and all USDM 6th gen hatches never even came with a rear sway bar from what I recall. So yeah... EK9 is really at the top of the food chain compared to the fully loaded USDM DX hatch.

I don't really know what you're really trying to ask though... a USDM CX/DX hatch can be made to handle like or better than an EK9 with the right parts...such as the ASR unit.

If your going over 14mm you need a brace, the ASR is a quality peice!

ek9 rear subframe/crossmember is different on ek9, its thicker to accept thicker arb and also had additional brackets to accept oem lower tie bar that ek9 has

oem ek9 subframe showing oem lower tie on factory brackets and area highlighted is thicker

im in process of having ek9 subframe fitted now as difference between ek4 and ek9 arb is big, roll is reduced so much more with ek9 arb

a lot of the tearing out of the rear subframe is due to running soft spring rates (stock CTR or only slightly stiffer)

when you get a lot of suspension travel, the twist and stress of the swaybar will cause stiff to get torn... of course one can't always run spring rates that are 12kg and higher on the street :p

oppss.. another rear subframe topic

here goes :p from my other post. btw i m having a EK2, using a ctr 22mm sway bar.

i'm the asr subframe kit :)

save me alot of worries of the getting rip off. plus it gives it a good bling bling effect :p

real good item to have if u plan to have a thick sway bar.

I will lookng to purchase the ASR brace soon as i already mentioned on other threads... as going to replace my dampers to ek9 + 22mm '9' sway bars aswell... will use my surrent Spoon progressive springs for them too :nice:

whats the difference frm ek4 to ek9 sway bars..?

know the '9' bars r 22mm how much thinner r the bars on the ek4?

:thanks:

Sorry to resurrect this from the archives guys.....probably a NOOB question too...BUT, if I have a rear lower Carbing tie bar, can I still use the ASR subframe brace, or will I have to remove the tie bar?

all i can say is try it, it should fit but with the ASR brace you shoulden't need it. adding the Carbing tie bar is just a bling thing
this is my set up with the BAEKS bling just because :p

Thats very tasty :D:shocked: How much did the ASR kit set you back mate? And where from etc? In the UK it's about £290....

Bought it at king motorsports here in Wisconsin there the only official mugen distributor in the USA.
It’s a A-Spec 24mm Sway Bar Kit w/Subframe Brace & Spherical Endlinks
If I remember it was $350
the beaks brace i bought used

King Motorsports Unlimited, Inc.

Thanks mate, probably end up buying it in the UK though, shipping might be pricey!! :p

Just thought mate, have you upgraded your front roll bar?
