Unclip it and pull , see if its snapped

Done that mate and it's not snapped, had both rear wheels off ground with hand brake on and passenger wheel can be turned by hand both rear calipers are brand new have been replaced dec 2010

Have you unclip it from the caliper and tried working the handbrake mechanism manually? Any budge from the cable while unclipped at both ends?

By the first part I meant is the handbrake mechanism on the caliper working without the cable attached , locking the wheel? As for it being a DB8 its quite possible they are longer but im not sure.

lol am getting all mixed up now.

I've disconnected both cables from calipers and checked handbrake lever to see if both cables move and there both move fine, could the cable be stretched

haha.... I meant operate the handbrake mechanism on the caliper itself without the cable attached... Could be but Ive never seen one stretch that far.

Sounds like the caliper mechanism adjustment is out on the passenger side.

There was a big recall across a load of civic, jazz, integra, that was not released publicy apparently. Generally because all the models with that sh*t rear caliper have problems with adjusting. Is well know at the honda dealer. I got this off one of the techs i know from there. I have used it a few times on my own and customers civic's + jazz's.

When replacing rear pads you should always
1. loosen the cables right off
2. disconect cables from calper
3. remove cable return spring from calipers
4. remove the big 17mm nut, and cable arm off the spindle.
5. then twis and push the piston back in
6. refit with new pads and pump up on the pedal (make sure well pumped up)
7. then refit the cable arm onto spindle. (will need to slightly pull and twist the spindle to get it located).
8. refit the 17mm nut and cable return spring.
9. refit the calbes and adjust to a slack setting. that just hold with lots of clicks.
10. Go for a road test and bed the pad surface in a bit (light braking. No hard or fast and long braking)
11. then finaly re adjust the cables to how tight you want them. Personaly i like them to start biting on 1st click but still movable by hand then almost holds car on 2, then 3-4 should be fully on.

Just an update, it turned out to be caliper mechanism adjustment where it holds the hand brake cable, both caliper where replaced just before Xmas last year so there where still under warranty had it replaced and it's all good now, still ended up fitting cable though

Thanks for the advice kieran will keep that in mind, and thanks darragh for all the help:))

Now going to book it in with Grispeed to have full alignment done and cam belt change
