Report......................

With me without a car, and Mike not wanting to risk further injury to his back, it was decided to bring Mikes Mighty Civic out of the shed and blow the cobwebs off both me and the car

In brief, no real preperation was done to the car since its last outing at brands last year so it was thrown on the trailer and the 4 hour trip was made down to Lydden hill. Unfortunately, while loading the trailer I managed to trap a nerve in my shoulder so spent the whole trip in a fair bit of pain :x . Once there, Mike thankfully unloaded everything and we left the circuit in search of a pharmacy, and returned with some mighty pain killers, heat packs and freeze spray (which we found out shouldnt be used together :x  )

Saturday morning came and as I couldnt move up off the bed, it was clear the day wasnt giong to go to plan, so we considered packing up and going home, but decided to take another load of pain killers, apply another heat pad and hope it would ease off before qualifying..........but it didnt. Getting in the car was one thing, putting the damn helmet and hans device on was another and I was left sitting in the holding paddock wincing in pain. However, once out on the track for Qualifying I didnt really notice the pain and soon got in to a nice rhythm and started to learn the track. Lydden is quite technical, but short and tight so passing isnt that easy and getting a clear lap wasnt that easy either.
However, we managed a respectable 5th on the grid behind the 3 Subarus and more impressive Paul Hughes in the Buddyclub DC5 who claimed pole position, neary a whole 2 seconds a lap quicker than me  .......Must buy me a Touring car when Mike gives me a pay rise 8)

Race 1

I managed a good start and held my 5th place through the first corner although all I could see in my mirrors was a pair of JDM DC2 headlights......damn Perriot  Dale gent shot off into the distance and Vaughan led the next fighting pack with Ian Froggart and Paul Hughes snapping at thier heels. Suprisingly, although 30-40ft behind, I stuck with the pack and both me and Paul managed to pass Ian after a missed gear. This left Vaughan and Paul to fight it out for 2nd place while I held onto a respectable 4th over all and 1st in GT250. Sadly for Vaughan, a delaminated tyre meant he couldnt hold off Paul until the end and lost out on 2nd place 2 laps from the end. His problem meant I was nearly along side him over the finish line but he was never going to let me have 3rd now was he

Race 2

My 4th place in race 1 meant I started on the 2nd row right behind Paul in the Buddyclub DC5. Our fastest lap times from race 1 showed we were only 4 tenths of a second slower, but I knew only a mistake by paul was going to give us anychance of catching him. The light went out and I managed a good start which got me alongside Paul and on the inside of turn 1. I held my line and Paul tucked in behind me while the 3 Subarus shot off into the Distance. I somehow managed to pull a tiny gap from Paul, but after 4 laps he was sat on my bumper again and I had to play the defensive game as best I could as I just couldnt carry the corner speed that he could. In all honesty, I didnt think I could keep him behind me and every lap got harder and harder. A few laps further on we passed the missfiring Subaru of Ian, then shortly after that the overboosting Subaru of Vaughan which put me in 2nd place overall. Paul managed to get alongside me on one or 2 occasions due to the Civic understeering from the overheating R888's, but again I held my line and after 15 hard laps I was relieved to cross the line with Paul near enough alongside me (infact he was that close he didnt see the chequered flag and kept on racing for another half a lap).
Absolutely brilliant race and have to take my hat off to Paul for a cracking race and for managing to sit on my bumper for 15 laps and not touch me once (i'm sure the temptation was there though  )

Overall a fantastic weekend and couldnt of wished for better results with 3 trophies coming back home for the R-Motion team.
More importantly, none of this could of happened without Mike as not only has he leant me the Civic for the next 18 months, but he's supplying the Tyres, race suit, helmet, hans device, Campervan, Trailer, everything.....he even supplied my boxer shorts on the day and that is no lie  Cheers mate!!!!

Thanks for reading and we might be at Cadwell for the
next 2 rounds 8)
