Quick question for anyone who has imported a car themselves.

I won a car at auction a couple of weeks ago. In that last week they have been sorting out all the documents for me, insurance etc. I got a copy of the export certificate through yesterday and it says at the bottom "Export schedule date 31/7/2013.

Is this a normal time to wait for a car to be exported? I know car manufactures have priority with new cars so you have to wait for the first available boat. Its coming to Southampton which I though would be quite a busy port with a lot of boats coming from Japan. Maybe I'm wrong.

So if anyone has experience with this part of the import process I wouldn't mind hearing how long you waited. I don't mind waiting until August to get the car but was sort of looking forward to getting it in the next month or so.

This is normal. I bought my EK9 in Japan and dropped it off at the dock at the end of April 2011. I did not receive the call for pick up from the UK company until mid October 2011.

When I purchase cars they normally get on the boat within 3 or 4 weeks. New car manufactures tend to use their own boats. The used car boats leave every 5 to 6 week and take about 6 weeks now.

I guess its just luck of the draw really. Ah well, bit disappointed but guess I will just have to start collecting parts. Thanks for the info though!
