hi guys i need some advice... Tried to change te oil this weekend but the drain plug from the oil pan does not unscrew or screw it just spins with nu result. I'm gonna take the oil pan down but my question is, can it be fixed? or do i have to replace the oil pan? giving the fact that mine is not cracked or scraped it's in mint condition

Thats a weird one, did you do the previous change on it ? If its not the right thread and just spinning i would drop the sump off (obviously oil will do everywhere) and try hack the bolt off it some way if younreally want to keep your sump, failing that just get a new sump and new drain bolt

Sounds like a stripped thread? As said, take the pan off (while wearing something you don't mind putting in the bin....) and see what happened when it is off the car...

Surprised it doesn't leak if you've pulled the treads out of the drain hole. I'd get a new sump myself.

not been fitted without a crush washer? if you do that sometimes there is a threadless section at the base of the bolt that can dissengage off the threads in the sump without leaving enough gap for a proper leak. its a long shot but you might get the bolt out with a bit of pressure on the back of it if that is the case.

thanks fro the advice guys ... so it's gonna be damn messy ....gonna try it next weekend.... took the car yesterday to the mechanic and the idiot changed my oil ( he sucked it out the engine) doing nothing to the oil pan .... so know i have to be extra carefull not to lose to much oil ....

^^^ plenty of oil drainers out there these days with the ability to suck the old oil out of the dipstick tube, certain cars these days like the smart you have no choice but to do it this way!!!'

That's interesting, never heard that before! But then I service all our cars myself.... I wonder if they get out as much of the oil as you do when you just drain it?

well it needs around 3 liters 3,10 liters .... after he sucked the used oil and he poured 3 liters there was no exces oil ... so it kinda drained all of it (note that my engine is in tip top shape does not lose of burn oil ... i usualy check it one a week ) ...

it leaks now well kinda leaks because it does not leave a spot under the car, but around the drain plug you can see oil so it's not that serious although it still needs changing ... before i messed with the drain plug there was no leak at all

must have been over-tightened previously and stripped the threads off.

Fixed it ! Pulled the screw out in the end, because there was no chance unscrewing it, made the hole bigger (14 mm) , made a new thread and after that built a new plug. I'll try to attach some photos with the old one if i can upload them from my phone.
