My mate has his renewal soon and wanted to now if you don't declare any points you have can they find out ?

i dont think they can as a friend of mine would need a club card he has that many points and never says to the insurance co's... and he has had a few accidents as well and nothing was ever found out about his points

i always declaire points they dont make a massive amount of difference to premuim, an accident however does, it also all boils down to your postcode

But he rang a company a week back n they said they go through the police etc to make sure that there is no false information!

When I had Insurance with Keith micheals they insisted I photocopied my paper part of driving licence and send it to them to prove I never had any points.

It depends on the Insurance company. Ive had a couple ask for a photocopy of the paper part of my driving licence to prove my no points but ive had others not bother at all and just take my word for it.

im with SKY. you have to send the a copy of your counterpart licence as proof!

for the piece of mind i always declare my 3 points, plus it doesn't affect the premium at all :)

Best to declare, but i hear you won't get checked til your involved in an accident/make a claim etc.

Timmy87- that's what I thought but they check before on co
Uters etc now sure they do!

Its best to declare any points it my increase price but at least you have it done wright!

Like people have said it all depends who he's with. Admiral wanted an extra £60 for my girlfriend's 3 point from an SP30

I've always declared everything (well recently anyhow ;) ). Don't know how much less I'd pay without my points but I'm paying £130 per month with my 9 points declared

Tell him to man up and declare.
And if course they can find out! These companys ain't stupid.

omg £1560 per annum insurance :-o thats crazy!

I never declared mine on my 1st 9, and then my car got stolen, I had to have a 3way conference call with the insurers and the dvla, wen they red my licsence info out it came up I had 6 points which I had not declared, therefore making my insurance void from day one, which was **** as I paid the full ammount upfront, so not only had no car, parts or insurance money:(
only good thing that came of it was I got to keep my no claims bonus as I never actually made a claim as insurance was void, so from then I will always declare my points

Declare your points, if not they will void your policy plus its insurance fraud!

I feel lucky this year i'm paying £802 fully comp, £250 excess, 4years no claims, protected and i'm 23 :)

I never used to delcare... naughty I know but then I realised that you wont even be covered if your car is stolen! They WILL try to get out of paying for it and that will start by checking your licence!
