Hi all,

Have you guys ever noticed the little plugs in our B-series heads?
I've put pictures of them below.

I was wondering if anybody knows what thread types those plugs have.
I would like to use them to hook up an oil temp and pressure gauge, since I don't want to use a sandwich plate... (I don't like em:D)

On the exhaust side
in the picture, all the way on the left (a bolt with washer):

thats a relly bad place for a oil temp and pressure gauges tbh

sandwhich plates are the only job

well for starters its situated in the head and the head as we all know is ventilated via the inlet side of the cam cover

so there would be little or no oil pressure reading from there

That's true, but the 2 holes I referr to are "side-canals" of the oil canals in the head. These oil canals lead to the camshafts and VTEC solenoid, so there acutally IS oil pressure there.

A friend of mine installed his sensors there (because he wanted to get rid of his sandwich plate), and he's got the same readings on his gauges as with the sandwich plate...

So I guess they are reliable measuring points?
If not, please someone correct me!

Thats some good info switch9, if these plug sizes could be found and its gives a reliable reading it would be sweet.

I would recommend welding a bung into your sump for oil temp as it's the most accurate place to take a reading from. As for oil press. I guess it's as good a place as any... Nothing wrong with a sandwich plate though and atleast it's hidden out of view at rear of engine...

Nah sandwich plates give more accurate than sump! Sump has constant airflow so will be cooler than say middle of engine I would have thought?

As for the pressure, seen people run them there before! Although if you are running a sandwich plate then will usually have 2 ports so easiest to run both sensors off that

hmm can't remember rightly why I was told to fit it in sump think its something to do with radiated heat from cylinders adding to temp. reading and not been as "true" as a reading from oil in sump...

alright, so I'm not the only one with that idea :D

Now, does anyone know the dimensions of the plugs? Maybe someone's got an engine lying appart somewhere.
Or the experienced guys overhere? Mfactory? Blinx? ...
