Paul's EK4 Track Build

So I have started to smarten up the fuel tank but it looks in a worse state than I originally thought. I'm thinking if I get does to the rust and treat it with krust it should be ok. Am I right or is if too far gone?

Can anyone help me please, just want to know if my fuel tank has had it!

So its been a while since I have updated this, been very busy.

So it look a long time but I finally finished sanding the whole car down.

While I was doing this I went on the lookout for some wheels.

I came across a set of Rota Slipstreams and always liked the way they looked on the civics.

They paint of them was awful so I get it bead blasted off ready for powdercoat.

I will reveal the colour they are going to go later!

I also came across a set of Magnum Kevlar bucket seats from a mate of my mechanic and snapped them up quick.

They are a good fit and are very very light!

One thing I had to do befre the primer was the block off the sunroof hole.

I ran a thick bead of sealant around the outside and rivited it into place.

Came out really nice and doesnt leak at all thich im happy about!

So with the cage bolted into place for the 100th time I had to position the removeable door bars for the mobile mechanic to weld in place.

Camoe out really good and are really easily removeable by removing some bolts and sliding the collar inwards which will be handy for long journeys!

So a huge update...PRIMER!! I have been waiting for this day for a long time!

Onto the flat bed trailer.

Into the workshop

So with hours of drying (raining) de greasing, wiping and more wipin gthe car was ready for primer...finally it would be one colour!

Was one colour for about 5 mins before the guide coat went on!

Back home for hours of flattening off!

Few bits that need to go for primer.

Started with the flattening off.

How it looks to this day.

Its come a long way and its booked for paint on the 27th! I cant wait!!

While I was busy snading I purchased a few bits.

Passanger seat

Fujistubo RM-01A Exhaust

Innovative engine mounts (thanks Dunx)

Sump baffle kit (thanks Dunx)

AEM V1 Intake

Full polybush kit

Thats it for a while until I get some paint and the cage powdercoated along with some other bits in that colour I said i will mention later!

Cheers

So last night I cut the dash to fit around the cage. Took a lot longer than I anticipated!
I had to cut out a lot more than I thought too. I will figure out how to strengthen it later.

Fits really well, can't wait for paint and powdercoat now!

I thought it would be rude not to fit my seat again with the dash in to make sure everything is ok.

Then came come lovely bits back from the powdercoaters.

I got this at christmas so its been a long time waiting to see it like this...I absolutely love the colour...its International Orange.

Should get the engine cover and fuel tank cover plate back tomorrow in the same colour.

So then the big day came...I had to sand down the whole car inside and out to take off the terrible paint done by the previous owner. Then get it primered and spend another month rubbing it all down. Then...PAINT!!

Off it goes

Sitting, waiting at the painters.

I think we all recognise this!

Then the next day...I get greeted to this!

Put it back together.

...and got it home.

Fit my EK9 wing and the colours are a perfect match...pretty impressive for 14 year old paint and 1 day old!!

and I could not resist fitting my cage...was fun getting it in without scratching the paint, but I think it looks amazing!

Thats everything for the time being, but please let me know what you think.

Looks amazing mate :). I just finished cutting my dashboard the other day to fit round my roll cage was an absolute pain in the arss but is done now. Is that the OMP roll cage you have?

Thanks. It took ages, cut a bit, try and fit, cut a a bit...had to cut away the steel plates on the end and some of the structural beam to get it to fit. Will come up with a way to brace it later. It is an OMP cage yea, its a good fit apart from one of the upper attachments being about 1/2 inch out! Nothing a bit of persuasion with a jack won't fix! What cage have you got?

Yeah that's exactly what I had to do. I just had my ek9 fully re-sprayed and trying not to scratch it was a pain in the arss but got there in the end. I have the bolt in OMP cage aswell :)

Oh, would not like to do it with a freshly painted car! Is your cage square? Mine doesn't go together at the top. It's not the car as it didn't fit outside the car either! Some pursuasion with a jack should fix it. What are you doing with your cage regarding the colour?

My cage is exactly the same as yours apart from the bars that get welded on across the door way are a bit higher up on mine. What do you mean square? When I first got the cage n built it up outside the car mine went together no problem.
