2 questions:

1. Hey lads was out today in my dc2 type r and give it a bit of vtec until 4th went for 5th and it gave me 3rd instead,i put the clutch in as fast as possible but it still over revved, maybe hit around 10,000.The thing is there's no noises, clunks, bangs, nothing coming from the engine but it seems like its running a bit funny,it still engages vtec no problem and still revs, could it of upset the timing?any advice

2.As soon as it happened i found it really hard to select gears, it will go into them but its kinda hard to select them, altho when moving not to bad but when stationary its very hard, and there seems to be more vibration in the inside of the car! Any input will be appreciated thanks Philip

mine was like this... turned out the shift linkage was loose as buggery.. might be worth a look bud, took me ages to work it out as it was the last thing i thought it coud be... hope it helps mate..

Drop your box oil and have a look at it, see if it's full of swarf or not

il get checking it tomorrow, anyone else any suggestions, surly the amount of engine builders on here can give a bit of input

Happened to me also ... I suspected bearing inside the gearbox. At first I thought my clutch ... so change new one together with TODA flywheel but the prob still there. So just leave it like that at the moment

Drained out my oil and its really clean, has only been in about month and drove about a week until this happened.Must be my clutch or selector fork or something any more idea's?
Also checked my oil level and it hasnt dropped, any signs i can look out for it my engine has bent valves?

Have u checked the bearing I mentioned? If not mistaken got 2 bearing inside

most likely the bearings, you have possibly burnt your 3rd syncro?

I think you might just be "over thinking" and imaging the worst. Engine wise, you would know about it if it done some serious damage. I'm not saying its done it any good because it wouldnt of. If you ask me the best thing to do is get someone else to drive it and get there opinion.

10,000 RPMS in 3rd gear. ouch, low F1 numbers there buddy--lol.

Now its hard to get the car into any gear...could be anything from the pilot bearing going bad to the syncro; 3rd most likely. Have your transmission looked at, open that sucker up and look for damage. Consider yourself lucky if its only the transmission.

As far as the 10,000 RPS and any possible damage to your engine, what ever the damage, damage done, and if it were going to kill the engine, you would know now as your engine would be fighting to stay on or remain off.

Good luck with it, and dont do that 10KRPM trick anymore. :p

it ticks over fine, but as soon as this happened thats when the transmission ****ed up. the box has only just been built with new bearings and mfactory 4.9 final drive,im thinking it mite be clutch related

im pretty new on here but i have rebuilt a few honda gear boxes. if your car is hard to get into all gears sounds like the problem is to do with your selector inside the gear box. Check all the easy things first tho like linkages and clutch and pressure plate before you go getting your gearbox opened as it could save you alot of money and time!

Sounds like you burned your clutch fluid check it and if it's still clear (like water) it wouldn't hurt to bleed and put some new fluid in, you might just have an air bubble in the line. If that does help you might be looking at the shift linkage or something in the tranny!

^^...do you recall it being hard to get it into 3rd, thinking it was 4th? Was it hard to get into "4th" [3rd]?
