a noobie Q: heard that the most accurate oil temp reading would be at the oil filter. why? shdn't it be the bottom of the oil sump?

cheers!

because the filter is where the oil passes through on its way to the head. When it makes it back into the sump, it's already gone through an entire cycle.

yes as long as u have the oil temp sensor adaptor.

I perfer to take temperature from the sump. This is where it is going to be the hottest, so this is what I want to observe.

However using a sandwich plate under the filter is the easiest way to fit the sensor and will also give you accurate results.

Any idea of where to get one of these plates, or do they come in kits with the sensor and guage etc??

it's just an adaptor, no sensor, no gauge.
