So I've just been to Halfrauds for some bits and wanted an oil filter removal tool but the guy said 'sometimes you cant use the chain one as it depends what ancillaries are close by as he's shorted things before by touching the alternator'? If this is true, what removal tool do I need for an EJ9? Thanks guys, and yes I'm a Honda newbie. ;)

As above, just got one of those after just using my hands for years!
Literally 20secs and the filter is changed!

Yeah I always used my hands. They are usually pretty easy to get off as they should only be hand tight anyway. Saying that, I have used a chain tool a few times on Hondas. They are fine as their filters are pretty accessible. The proper tool is much easier though.

Oil filters should be hand tight, but I've had to put a screwdriver through more than one oil filter to get it off. Only just used the proper Honda tool for the first time and now I wish I bought it years ago, it makes it so simple!
