Just a heads up guys.

Went to get some oil from Asda today as they normally have Castrol GTX on offer and cheaper than Halfords and them.

Anyway they've got 4 litres on offer at £12 down from £20. Semi synthetic but will do the job, can't go wrong with that really.

Thanks for the heads up - Wouldn't be running a semi synth in any high revving Honda engine though bud - keep to the fully synthetic oils.

Just my opinion of course... Seems Illogical to skimp on the part which lubricates the internals!

No worries.

I'm running semi synthetic in my B20 and had done in my CRX VT prior to that and they're going/went fine. In saying that most of my oil changes in the CRX were with Fully synthetic only a few were semi synth but it still went fine with no problems.

Daz at Endless said to run the car with semi synthetic not fully so I'm taking his advice as he knows what he's talking about. This is mainly just for top ups and so on anyway.

Thanks anyway mate.

I thought you could run 10-40 or 5-30 semi synth what would i best be runnin in my b18cr

Most folk I know run semi synthetic in thier Hondas and always have for years with no issues. Nothing wrong with it. I took up on that offer and got 8 litres when it was on a few months ago

Yeah I am now using GTX in my hi comp B18.

Bought mine for 14 online then saw this a week later! Typical!

It's a pretty good deal to be honest, you'd easily pay double possibly triple that for the exact same oil in Halfords so you can't go wrong.

As for running semi synthetic yes I've read that it's perfectly ok to run them in our engines. I'd been topping up the CRX on semi for nearly two years amongst changes of between fully and synth and when I sold it the lad who bought it off me told me it's was much quicker and pulled far better than any of the previous ones he's owned and it was 196k when I flogged it.

That's a great price. And as for not running semi synth in these engines, it is what Honda actually recommend to run isn't it? 5 - 30 or 10 - 40 semi synthetic.

It's not the price of the oil that matters, it's how often it's changed.

I would rather someone changed there semi synth oil every 3k miles than someone who buys expensive Full syn and changes every 15k!

Still doesn't stop me buying expensive oil though :p

Halford have mobile 1 5-30w fully syntectic for 23.99 which i think it a good price. Will 5-30 fully syntectic be ok, as i'm going to get some tommorow.
