Are ek9 exhaust systems really that restrictive compared to a, tanabe smr, spoon n1 etc i guess what i'm trying to say, is there going to be any noticable power gains from a full system, compared to stock on an ek9?

Probably the rear muffler and the cat will be the most restrictive.

ek9 system is fantastic, you dont need to upgrade on stock car and MASSIVE bonus of being quiet so hear engine rather than exhaust

the reason i asked, i'm being offered a tanabe medallion, and i would only consider swapping if there was an increase in power that you would notice, i didn't think the oem set-up was that restrictive with a de-cat anyway, thanks for the replys so far :nice:

Isn't the stock rear muffler baffled? = restrictive.

its only the backbox that is restrictive also the cat. the oem b pipe is very good

I agree with this, with the less restrictive exhausts fuel usuage goes up a fair bit, torque is decreased and it only feels faster because of the noise. Only really works changing the system with a mappable ECU. In my experience anyway.

keep the muffler and get a t1r b-pipe? I believe that it utilizes the donut flanges and spring bolts.. unlike Tanabe which uses those flat gaskets and just straight bolts= leak city

so would a plug and play ecu not pick up on a less restrictive system?

spoon ecu might compensate a bit, but to get the most from any modification a true map has to be tailored to suit...
