Has anyone yet to take their EK9 to this infamous course? Did it feel underpowered on the high speed and uphill stretches ? What kind of lap time did you post ? My dad went last year in his 420bhp jag, but still took him 11min23secs, sounded pretty slow to me, but that's only from a gran turismo point of view and not real life experience !

amazing place, youll get best from ek9 on there but lack of torque will also show

im hopin to be going around june with load of nsx

My mates are going end on may for a stag do, but I'm not getting my 9 till June most likely, so will miss out that time, but plan on going asap really. Maybe we should try to arrange a group visit ?

Id love to take my turbo-9 there! maybe we could organise a Nurburgring weekend! :ek9:

that would be awesome. 11mins 23 sounds quite long but im probs thinking of gt as well

theres a lad with the first ek9 in sweden whos booked up ready to go on a trip there soon. not sure when!

Skyline R33 GT-R lapped it in under just 8 mins from factory.

I wouldn't hold anything GT4 gives you as truth. lol

I have done an 8min lap in the Spoon EK9 on GT4. LOL That would never happen in real life.

I would love to go there too.

But I wouldn't wanna give it **** loads on the track.

For me, it would be more about the experience than the lap time.

i was there last year an was doin times around 9.45 in a 1.6 toyota levin with only about 160 bhp.im goin back in my ek9 in august an hope to get my time down nearer 9 mins.the car felt under powered on straights and uphills of course but with so many corners if you can push it hard through them you will keep your times down.

9.45 is an awesome time for a levin. You must be a very good driver bolgeR. Thanks for the info.

chriast lads!! an ek9.org day there would be great!!!!

could be a few disasters tho :(

As long as we don't all try to beat EK9turbo there shouldn't be too many mishaps, hopefully !

Bugger...
It would take me a few weeks to get to Germany...and loads of taxes, road fares, etc...
Why don't we have nice paved circuits in Russia...
Well, that doesn't matter cuz we have ICE, SNOW and REALLY NARROW RALLY courses :)

Well Ive emailed the Nurburgring directly with a group enquiry trying to get the 25-27th July as a weekend (since this would have open track ALL day and be in te height of summer!)

The link somone posted is a company/individual who organises the trip themselves and charges a hefty commision!

If you want to get an idea of all-in costs for a weekend trip, for a 'standard' weekend (out Fri, full day Saturday, half-day Sunday, return Sun afternoon/eve) by car, the costs look something like this:

Channel crossing: Varies, but say typically £120 (there are alot cheaper ferry options from other ports like Hull for example!)
Petrol en-route: Typically 2 x £60 = £120
Petrol for the Ring: Say £90
Bed-and-breakfast per person: £25 per night x 2 = £50
Food: 2 x dinner, 2 x lunch, food en-route, beer = £100
25-lap ticket = £232
Total = approx £700

So you definitely want to put some money aside and make sure your cars in top health!

Ill keep you guys updated when they contact me back!... but for now I need to get ideas of numbers of people who are interested in going on this weekend!

You MUST buy european health insurance for the trip!
...
"Optional extras" available at additional cost include armco repairs, safety car attendance, vehicle recovery, track closure, hospital stays and helicopter rides. I recommend avoiding these. If you can't, then the following price-list may help:

Base fee for attendance of armco truck: €150
Removing damaged armco: €10/metre (x2 or x3 or x4 for multiple-height sections)
Replacement armco: €31/metre (x2 or x3 for double/triple height)
Removing damaged armco posts: €5.10 each
Replacing armco post: €39 each
Safety car attendance: €82 per 30 mins (car + 2 people)
Circuit closure: €1,350 per hour
Recovery truck: €190 (inc VAT)
Hospital stay & air ambulance: Let's just say, do NOT go there without travel insurance! (Though a European Health Card - which replaced the E111 - may cover the hospital bit.)
Everything except the recovery truck is then subject to 19% VAT.

"The record armco bill I'm aware of is €15,000. That was a car that managed to flatten a very impressive length of armco between the Quiddlebacher Hohe bridge and the crest on the approach to Flugplatz. But even a minor bump can turn into a surprisingly expensive day out."
