Had this problem on my b18c every so often where it doesnt go into vtec but now just no vtec infact seems more like a problem transitioning between the cam lobes.. where it feels like your bouncing off a rev limiter at 4k but can still rev through it but its very heistant & jerky lacking power through it. 4k is when it usually jumps onto the seconary lobe & now just no vtec. Started it up today same story only just reversed it out the driveway & set off it was misfiring quite a fair bit then stopped a minute later. any help to try & solve it would be appreciated guys!!

Vtec solonide
Bad earth some where
Spark plugs
Loose leads going into dizzy

Just a few to check off the top of my head

Checked the mesh filter on the vtec solenoid.. Cleaned it out but the vtec solenoid wouldnt be to blame ? Because the seconary lobe does even transition onto.. Which the the vtec solenoid plays no part in. Checked a cleaned all earths plus the one on the themostat & put some extra earthing leads on. Also just changed the spark plugs to brand new platuim plugs still no change, also took the ht leads that go into the dizzy out one at a time & checked they were all in properly, still nothing.

Coolant temp sensor for the being faulty would stop it from engaging vtec

It became obvious what the problem was tonight when out in this, really got bad it began not picking up throttle position bearly made it home but changed it with the tps from my old d14 engine and vtec was back again running like it was when i first got it mapped. still hesistant in low revs/light throttle sometimes like TPS still isnt right.. like just cant rev any further until I let off the accelerator & kind of cutting the power down but when hammering it no splutters, or misfiring or signs that it doesnt want to go into vtec.. runs good. any ideas ? injectors or crap coming through from the tank ? or maybe still storing the fault on the ecu ?

Did you adjust the TPS voltage to the proper spec when you replaced it?

no, how do you do that ? I just screwed it into the exact same position it was in the first place.. heard some stuff about that but when it ran fine i thought it was sorted. until i went back out in it today it ran sooooo bad!!! misfiring, no power, wasnt picking up throttle at random times, no vtec, ran awful, then finally cut out.. got it started again had to get it off the roundabout i was stuck on & it felt like was running on 2 or 1 cylinders it felt that bad, wouldnt go over 1.5k. then once i got it off, got the bonnet up & adjusted the tps again slightly, on idle it sounded fine but reving it up - misfiring & very hesistant/spluttery. Going to buying a brand new tps to see if this will sort things.. as the one i put on it was a fair bit old from my d14 engine. should it be as bad as this guys when the tps goes bad or do you think theres other issues ??

Cheers man, calibrated it today was better.. But still spluttering & misfiring when reving it between 3-4 k with a high idle. Just goin to see whats, what when I get a new tps for it.
