Hi just wondering about these cars noticed one on this website recently and was wondering if they are any good. perhaps have peopke on this site owned one before and if can i received some feedback please? 3500eur seems a bit cheap for 180bhp and are they really worth the money in terms of handling thanks in advance for any help i receive. here is a link to the site in question.
Nissan Pulsar VZR - €3,495 - Used Cars on Carzone.ie - New & Used Cars in Ireland

you should check on dtdirl.com , plenty of owners on there . from what i have read they seem to be very good car but heavy on petrol . the n1 is the model you want as it has 200bhp , very aggressive switchover and the v2 are quicker than an ek9 .

mate had one nothing special with the bluetop, sir civic equivaelent, never got a go of a n1 a good one is meant to be serious to go,8 injectors,hi cam cuts twice ,handling and brakes i found poor to be honest.cv joints cause a llot of trouble, cant be got spurious so 500 a pop from nissan.

The Nissan Pulsar n1 200bhp version won my 1/4 mile drag class at the weekend and beat my time by 0.1 sec putting me in 2nd position. I was head to head against it in the final and won but he had the fastest recorded time of the day in our class, he said he got a lucky run when he got the winning time:drive:

ya i see might be nice to have something different anyway dont see many around thanks for the advice

Can't imagine the air intake workin to well positioned behind the battery???

Not a bad car all the same, but as said before, only SIR equivalent, would fall very short of the 9 in terms of driving experience...

they are quick cars allright but a lucky run is just stupid IMO . i know people say it all the time but if a car can do it once it can do it a hundred times , just depends on the driver :nice:

YouTube - SR16VE N1

this video shows the final version of the car known as the v2 . it is the best one made and the one to go for . vzr isnt the best car , like people have said its equivalent to an sir but the n1 is a different car altogether . have read elsewhere that they wont "last" as long as a honda and can be quite expensive .

they appear to be very similar performance even though the ek9 is a much better looking car the pulsar seems to be better value thanks everyone for your help

they are a very unreliable car

every N1 or highly modified VZR have engine trouble and there NEO is a big bowl of crap

they will never pass a honda

yeah the body is basicly an almera.

same with the gti-r pulsars wanted one so many times but couldnt live with the shocking reliability issues. bottom end top end gear box all go etc etc..

I know what you are saying but he got a perfect run that time and I unfortunately never got a start that I was happy with, either too much wheel spin or a bit of wheel hop and bogged down just couldn't seem to get it right!

On our head to head run we both got off the line at the same time and I was able to pull away from him by a couple of car lengths

At the end of the day the ek9 is a better all round car without question. I have seen the video that you posted of the pulsar vs ek9 but in the full length video it explains that the pulsar has alot of modifications that it didn't come out of the factory with, if the ek9 had the right mods it would be a different story:naughty:

have to disagree man, i used to have the exact same view until my cousin got one.its a bluetop vzr

no sir in limerick can beat him, he has beaten a few ek9's too. it has the usual bolt ons and its remapped.

the bang of vvl is much higher/more aggressive/louder than most vtecs. he has had zero trouble with it in about 6-8 months. but i agree they are not ment to be reliable overall and the c.v joints are very costly.

its no where near as heavy on petrol as my sir but my sir is disgusting on petrol.

@dalylimk most vzr's will be slower than an sir do and will be heavier on juice than most sir's. there main downfall is the gear ratios

thanks to evryone for their valuble input must take some time to decide and hopefully i will have a members ride thread in the next few weeks. thanks

what were the modifications done to the car do you remember ?? seems awfully powerfull

friend has an v2 N1, very quick car but no where near the handling of an ek9, back end can tend to slide and hop an awful lot.. and as previous mentioned parts are mad money esp cv joints and drives etc....
he gets 180 miles too a tank ( 5o euro) and thats driven fairly handy with the odd boot to the floor..:)
i'd much prefer a civic any day sir or ek9

180 would need something a little less thirsty. i believe i will be reconsidering as it would be my daily driver if i got it. thanks for your help

what about a levin/trueno bzr if you are looking for something different ??

YouTube - AE111 vs EK4

they have 170bhp , 6 speed and really good suspension . faster than your sir/vti civics and better handling too from what i have experienced . lovely sound off the throttle-bodies as well :nice:

another really nice car but there are somany in limerick that the appeal has been lost on me. nice car to drive too. would love a civic but they get so much attention off the guards in my area it would make want to steer clear. got a quote on a vti of 1400 tpft and cannot get insured on anything jap for some reason might follow up the vti

It was me that was selling one on here about 12 months ago, I imported it to sell....so it had to go, would of loved to keep it though.

They aren't as good as an EK9 in probably every department, but this was built to sell in the same class as the SiR. The EK chassis is much better and the 9 will outbrake one of these easily. But bare in mind I sold that car for £2500...for a 50k mile fresh import, totally standard with full OE kit. You can't beat them for price. And if you wan't something different go for it, they blend in to the crowd very well too....one down side to the 9 is it's a prime target for thiefs.

180 miles to a tank is shocking is that all foot to the floor driving? I used to get 300.
