Alrite, well the issue i'm having is getting new shock absorbers ASAP on a low budget so i've browsed the web and came across a company called "Monroe".
Think they are from the USA and they apparantly make good shocks but i'd rather hear it from the people that know their stuff.
Just wanting to know if the shocks are good for the prices they ask is all, i'll get teins in the future just not at the present moment.

they're okay if you expect nothing from it

better off saving your cash and getting a temporary oem setup while you wait for the tein's

Budget level Tein aren't all that, just good marketing and a huge fanboi customer base.

I've only vaguely heard of Monroe before, IIRC they are OK but only really an OEM replacement damper, not high performance.

Check out Koni, you can't beat them for the price.

I've already got a decent set of springs, just need the shocks is all... best shocks for £300 at maximum?

What springs do have, and what are the rates? Providing the rates are high enough, I would seriously recommend saving the extra £100 and getting the Koni Yellows. £300 may get you a set of the non adjustable (Reds IIRC) dampers though, which may also be better suited to softer springs.

I have eibach springs, I might buy skunk2 shocks but they say you NEED their springs but i'm sure it's just a way to making you buy them.

If you have Eibachs then the Konis are a perfect match in terms of damping rates to spring rates. Save the £100 extra and get the Yellows, you get some basic height adjustment on the damper body if you want to run lower and dampers are good quality unlike so many other manufacturers in the price range.

Yes those are the ones, they'll be fine with lowered springs. Bear in mind that price is for a pair of dampers though!

You want the 'Sports' out of the two choices.

I've seen loads of videos on youtube now and seen some people getn their shocks blown instantly and crying on YouTube about it haha... Some of the cars look slammed also... i didn't know 35-40mm would slam my car haha? One thing that will make it look slammed is my front ek9 splitter so hopefully it turns out ok.

Yeah I know it's just for 2 out of 4 :)

EDIT***

They also say they are for 5dr civics where as mine is only a 3dr.. ?

I had these before my Spoon setup but with Tanabe springs, it was lowered about 40mm and was fine. 'Slammed' is lowered 60mm+ and is the reserve of mongs IMO.

One thing that I have seen recommended is to remove the rubber dust boots, these reduce damper travel and can cause you to hit the bump stops if you are using lowered springs.

I just see videos on Youtube of people using the kit I bought and they are slammed, probably cutting the springs i'm assuming.

Yes ignore them, they are muppets. For that sort of thing you need purpose built coilovers, and even then it's still stupid.

Up to 40mm will be fine on the Sports, it is a proven combination with Eibach springs too and not just in the Honda crowd. :nice:
