I will start off with saying, what an excellent site and community. I've been a lurker for the past 2 years and enjoyed reading about members cars on here. Some of the work gone into the cars is amazing!

I bought an ATR CH1 around 2 months ago. It wasn't the best of examples but the engine was decent and I was looking at getting into Honda ownership so bit the bullet and bought it.

Well, the problems didn't take long to notice and I've slowly been getting the parts to sort them out. Some oil leaks, headlights not adjusting, bushes knocking etc...

Then today the inevitable happened.

This occurred while driving at normal speeds. Came down a hill and heard a unusual noise. Saw the following and was left gobsmacked as now I'm wondering if I may need a new engine or not.

I do remember the pulley wobbling but never thought much of it. It had its belts done at 78k and now it's on 110k.

I am a sad man as my Honda ownership hasn't started off with the best of starts. If any of you can advise me on what to expect I'd appreciate it.

Other than that the car pulls hard in VTEC and drives fine.

I would try posting this in the engine threads mate more likely to get a response in there I think.

I hope it's not to bad and hasn't done to much damage! :nono:

should be able to stick a new belt on there and it'll be all right..

sure someone will verify this though.

Needs a new crank pulley and recommend a belt too !

Basically the rubber damping layer has failed , common on the ATR's

Thank you mate. Will see what the mechanic says.

Do you think I have damaged anything? Crank or anything like that?

Bit of an update: Spoke to the mechanic today and he said he's had a look and that the woodruff key area has worn away, probably due to the crank pulley being loose. Now looked at prices and Honda only seem to sell it at £lolmoney.

Other place I know has to order it in. :/

Interesting how 'wobbly crank pulley' seems to have varying replies on the net from "OMFG she's gonna BLOW, turn it OFF!" to "It's cool, mine's been like that for 20k".

Mine only wobbles on idle, but better get mine seen to sharpish though. Money I can't bloody afford at the moment.

You may as well Kozy. Mine wobbled at Idle and I made the mistake of not paying much attention to it. Better to sort it out before it randomly goes.
