Hi all,

thought id start out a thread on my eg project ive started recently, didn't get off to the best starts, bought a esi shell which decided was too far gone, so bought an auto lsi, then another esi popped up as a rolling shell which was cleaner again so went with the last shell before starting to give the best base car. so i viewed the car which was being stripped for parts, was completely stripped apart from dash and few bits in the engine bay, shell is only on 59k with years mot so made a deal with the owner on the shell, bought a full brake setup off a mb6 civic with a 1" mc servo which had to be fitted to the shell before we could move it, had to remove the dash so he could keep the interior loom, had to fit front head lights, indicators, different tailgate, steering wheel, seat, wheels all before it could be brought home.

pics of the brake swap when collected, have also got a set of hel braided brake lines to be fitted to this setup car will be remaining non abs:

once we got it back home

started off taking some of the parts id fitted to the lsi off for the new shell (on the right)

engine bay when i got it

started cleaning the bay up not yet finished due to time / light

with the red dress up parts in place, fitted the black housed headlights off my other esi shell and the amber corners

gave the shell a quick wash over as was filthy when got it just to see condition of the paint rust scratches etc overall nice shell needs work in places though

with the clear outer lights fitted

took the front bumper off the lsi i had as one that came with this car had seen much better days (just loosely hanging on at the minute whilst works being done on the car)

last couple of days been working on the interior stripping the other esi i have for the black interior parts, have so far swapped over the door cards which i retrimmed, the rear quarter trims in black, the rear seats which are wrapped in teg type r material, black boot trims and black boot carpet, black parcel shelf, at the same time been degreasing the floor of the new esi before its all fitted as has had the sound deadening removed but residue left behind and various other marks so generally tidying it up as i go through the car, currently removing the black carpet from the other esi for this car and waiting to remove the interior loom so it can be swapped into the new shell to run the engine. also picked up a black armrest console the other day and black cup holders few pics of various bits ive collected to go in.

door cards before

and after the retrim

not a very good picture but the prelude tombstone seats that will be going in once rails modified to fit the eg

collected a couple of body pieces for the eg aswell, a mugen gen 1 rep lip / wings west lip in poly which will be colour coded

a fibreglass jdm tailgate need to find a way of fitting the oem boot release mechanism etc to it before fitting

arranged a set of 96 spec oem teg wheels to go with the brake swap just awaiting delivery before they get cleaned up possibly refurbed or put straight on depending condition

have lots of other parts sat around awaiting to be put together at the minute,

exhaust wise have a 2.25" decat pipe, 2.25" powerflow cat back and a 2.25" 4-2-1 b18c si manifold which will be a starting point before upgrading to 2.5"

engine wise, have a B16A2 block with a B18c head and B18c sump, red coolant hoses, iriduim plugs, oversized red ht leads, honda chrome oil cap, lightened and balanced flywheel, oem b series mounts inc torque mounts, stage 2 or 3 clutch plates and oem release bearing, still needs cleaning up before it goes in pics as it stands, have a p30 ecu to run it on to start with until i can get it all mapped properly still toying with the idea of swapping the block out for the b18c one so the engine is full type r engine then.

integra type r inlet manifold, throttle body, injectors(looms been modified to plug and play), fuel rail, intake pipe, hoping can combine the dc2 intake pipe to the eg standard airbox

gearbox wise - have a s80 integra gearbox with the 4.4 FD and LSD needs a good clean up aswell before fitting, have 96 spec integra driveshafts to handle the extra power, hel braided clutch line and polybushed shift linkages, spoon black duracon gear knob, just need to order a gear lever itself now.

have a brand new oem style radiator on order awaiting arrival, integra type r steering rack has been delivered just awaiting some more funds to purchase the UJ to fit it, and new rack ends, also need to sort the power steering delete properly as previous owner has done it a strange and messy looking way, will hopefully update soon when some more parts get fitted to the car, still need to source a spoiler, radiator fan + motor and few other small bits and pieces.

plans for the future after all this lot are full polybushed suspension, replace all ball joints and upper front arms, coilovers, larger arbs with appropriate bracing, full 4wa setup for the time being.

Nice build! keep up the good work :)

Thanks all, been looking into getting the valve stem seals done with a minor head skim / possible port and polish today, and toying with the idea of a type r b18 block if I can find a good condition one at a reasonable cost, whilst its all apart as I think will give me a better starting point and hopefully easier to map/get correct ecu for it to run properly, the integra wheels have been collected today by the courier so should receive them by Monday, just hope the spacers I have are sufficient enough to cover the mb6 hub swap, will update with some more pictures soon.

Coming along very nice. Good job on the bay, looks fresh now! 96 wheels on egs look too good. Hopefully they in good nick so u dnt have to refurb

Thanks, received my teg wheels on friday evening quic pic how they turned up:

gave them a wash to see what state they were in, could ideally do with a refurb for time being have fitted them to keep the shell rolling, need to find some kind of spacer to clear the front calipers also:

went to a local meet last night and bought a spoon blue tinted convex mirror have one in my integra and wanted one for this:

went down to the car today and fitted them couple of pics:

really happy how they look even with the sky high suspension

also picked up a oem full coloured spoiler last night at the meet need to get the nuts to fit it but placed on looks good for now

if weathers good tomorrow hoping to get the interior finished off bar the dash and interior loom

So weather stayed good today, managed to make good progress, apologies about the picture quality it was dark and had no proper lighting,

started off by taking everything out of the car first of all

removed the extra wiring a previous owner had fitted to the rear and tucked the loom back to its original location, gave the floor a good vacuum to get all the loose debris and a wipe over with tar and glue remover and a cloth to get up any mud etc

started stripping my other shell for parts, removed the dashboard upper a pillar trims / rear window trims all seatbelts the carpet door seals boot trims and some other bits and pieces, fitted the carpet to this shell gave it a quick vacuum needs a good clean up when i get chance

got the rear teg seats in

centre trims black armrest and cupholders

as i was packing up placed the seats in position to get a feel of the final outcome look of the interior

also bolted the spoiler on now properly, have taken a boot strut off my other shell so the boot stays up, fitted the boot release cable again as previous owner removed it, just need to remove the interior loom from my other esi shell now and swap it into this one, can get the heaters made back up and dash in place then, have a roof lining to go in also but need bring it to the car, and few random trim pieces here and there which havent been fitted yet but we're getting there :)

Nice project man you goin to paint the car or leave it silver?

I think silver is an awful colour for a car haha

colour will be remaining silver, have a silver teg also haha, both cars are quite hard to find in silver and think the silver really suits the eg to be honest, but everyone has their opinion :)

Silver is the rarest colour for eg's, I've always wanted a silver one. Good work so far

Thank you, new radiator turned up yesterday not that it will be fitted for a little while :p, picking up an interior loom tonight for it save stripping it out the other car I have as it has an alarm wired into it and few cut plugs, once ive got that can run the loom into this shell and put the heater box all back together and get the dashboard mounted in place as well. Going to take a trip down to my friends lock up get a few more spares for it ready up together for when the engine swap is ready to be fitted, struggling to find a reasonably priced b18 block so may just settle with getting the stem seals done or possibly just fit the engine as is and see what it runs like and go from there.

Had a small delivery waiting in work for me this morning,

pair of oem Honda 'DOHC' and 'VTEC' in british gray side decals

I believe these are the ones that fit to the front of the front door underneath the side body trim but not 100% sure on the original location so need to do a little bit of research.

Also managed to find a complete b18c6 bottom end in good condition done 98k will be removing from the car this afternoon so hopefully start some progress into getting the stem seals etc done.

Nice project and progress!

Those champ white wheels look ace with the silver paint! :nice:

What are your plans suspension wise?

Thanks they do look great imo :), need to work out either a spacer for the front wheels or shave the caliper as the wheels touch and wont do up tight at the minute, as far as suspension goes at the minute im focusing on getting the engine swap etc mocked up in the bay find out whats missing etc as i know there are items which i don't have and i also expect some to become apparent as we start putting it all together which will of been overlooked at the start. the suspension im planning to buy a 'master' polybush kit to cover all the bushes on the vehicle, will be fitting new lower ball joints on the front, the upper ones on the car at the minute are shot so will either replace with oem arms new or adjustable camber arms (had these on my teg and they hit the arches so not 100%) going to order new track rod ends for the integra steering rack before it goes in, have picked up a teg type r front subframe brace today to go on, need to order a integra uj to fit the rack also, have a eg6 import front arb sat around but will most likely go for integra front and rear arbs and poly links and d bushes, along with rear subframe brace to take the extra stress, shock wise will most likely be going for either a set of meister r's / hsd's / bc racing coilovers, run the meister r's on the integra and im happy with the way they perform so would be happy to run another set. as far as the rear toe arms and camber arms etc will most likely leave them all standard and just rebush them and have a full 4wa done once everything is together properly.

and an update again from earlier, Been a busy day today, got a free fake spoon oil cap in black and silver

then the hard work started, had to remove the engine from a crx strip it down to the block etc but well worth it :)

nice clean looking b18c6 block, done roughly 90k just need to clean it all up order all new gaskets and strip my other engine down have some head work done and swap the sumps as the new block's sump is dented

changed plan again slightly with regards to the engine swap, managed to pick up a good condition non smokey ek9 b16b head complete

started cleaning up the block after half hour left it for time being got to try some different cleaning products as the oils caked on :(

and ordered myself a batch of oem parts which will allow the engine to be assembled, just need to strip the cams etc out of the head so it can be skimmed first

new head gasket, new cambelt, new cam inspection seal, set of head bolts, vtec solenoid seal, will need to order full rocker cover set aswell but need a rocker cover first haha, at least these bits will allow the block/head to be mated

so, started work on the head couple of days ago, as it started out

started stripping the head down so it could be skimmed, cleaning everything as it came off ended up with this,

dropped it off to be skimmed, collected earlier today (mark in the middle is just dust on the surface)

received another o ring for the centre point of the head may as well change it whilst its out, need to order up a spool valve gasket/filter and have ordered a set of valve stem seals today wasn't going to do them as it wasn't smoking but seemed daft to do all the work and not change them, hopefully start getting it built up shortly

so an update,

been working on the eg today for few hours, brought my camera around rather then my phone to take some better pictures for a change couple as it sits

couple of daylight interior shots, seats are bolted down in the front and was in the process of running the interior loom back into place

dug the s80 out

gave it a clean up alot better then it was quite pitted though

then started on the engine bay again, previously started cleaning it up but was dark and could see a huge amount so went over and finished it off today, how it started out

cleaned up and started taking back some rust spots and curing them

interior loom into the bay, and touched up the areas were the rust was treated

and picture of complete bay as it sits now, need to do the slam panel aswell when i get chance

also picked up full set of valve stem seals today, which will be a job for tomorrow fitting them to the head and giving the head and block a clean up have bought some different cleaner to try
