does anyone know how to remove the front black numberplate recess?

Reach through the bumper grill below the recess (palm of hand facing upwards) with a stubby phillips screwdriver, feel up the way for the srew and take it out. Then pull it with a bit of force. It will leave the 2 metal squares in the bumper that held it on. Sounds more complicated than it is just my **** explanation. Or take off the front bumper and that way you can take out the metal squares.

Im actually in the process of painting my rear plate recess and bump strips. Its turned out good, iv impressed myself. Only prob is its nice fresh and shiney paint so it might stand out a bit from the 11 year old paint elsewhere. Sure a real good polish will make them blend in okay. Onced painted get my nice new jap plate fitted, and its a job well done.

done my rear plate recess today, im supprised i done a good job, color match isnt perfect, maybe itll be better when in get around to polishing the car..

Please paint the edge off your grill! Will look a million times better.

yer, got it from halfrauds, triple checked lol, i used grey primer then white primer, would this have caused it maybe?

Try giving it a real good polish.

I dry sanded 400, grey primed, dry sanded 600, grey primed, dry sanded 600, painted, wet sand 1200, 2nd coat paint, wet sand 1200, 3rd coat paint, wet sand 1200, laquerd, wet sand 1200(very lightly), then finally laquerd again. Done.

hmm will have to get my hands on some 1200 grit, smoothest i had was 600 :/ laquer is in the post too :l

Halfords are usually a great match for paint (as odd as that sounds with halfords and great in the same line lol) I used white plastic primer on my mugen lip. was the lacquer i think messed it up a little. didn't have enough and was in a rush to finish it. didnt wet n dry it or give it a 2nd coat which left it wits orange peel and stones chip it easily :(

i may lightly sand it down, add some grey primer, then paint it again

Thats how i messed up all previous painting experiences just rushing. You defo need laquer its essential. Laquer is really bad for running so that why you need to just very lightly rough up the paint with 1200 wet sanded that way the laquer will not run, inless you paste it on and keep a good 10 inch away with the spray can. If it starts running dont try wipe it just leave to dry then lightly buff out the run and do it again for best results.

i didnt do too bad as it was the 1st i ever sprayed anything lol, and its no wonder the splitter is in the state its in with the height of the car tbh.

halfords are generally alright i have had a few hit and misses though! a think the grill looks alright in black if u include black sumwhere else in the colour scheme

aye im gona leave the bump strips black i think, purley because i cba to remove them and paint them lol
