MTS Garage Racebase EK9

Very very nice, really wanted to buy this but it was out of my price range at the time.

If you ever come to sell please keep me in mind! Look forward to seeing what happens with it.

Cheers dude, no plans on selling it yet though.

The car came imported with a Billion Variable Fan Controller fitted but had been removed at some stage so today I set about fitting it back.

First up I figured out how it was wired up which was pretty tricky as the instructions were in Japanese.

Then found a place to mount it and run the wiring.

Placed it in the speedo cluster, thought about putting it in the coin pocket but didn't want to cut any holes in it.

Once an accurate temperature gauge is fitted and a more effective fan, I think it can useful to set a lower temp for it to kick in.

Collected the seat rail and springs from powder coat earlier. I didn't sit low enough with the Recaro side mounts so I made my own.

Already got the seat fitted an I'll assemble the coilovers tonight.

Coilovers assembled with the standard pre-load, I'll set the height once they're fitted.

The underseal was starting to flake in places so while taking the suspension out I applied some more.

I took the backbox and strut off, loosened the camber arms, cleaned and masked off areas where I didn't want to paint.

This was after the first coat, I'll give it another coat and repeat on the other side.

More updates tomorrow!

did you have any issues crushing the towing eye using it as a jacking point? wanted to do this myself but unsure.

I always use the towing eye on the back Lee, never had any problems. It weighs almost nothing on the back anyway.

I'm still trying to find some nice wheels.

Excellent work, the car is coming along very well and some nice fabrication on the seat rail :nice:

Cheers Stephen.

While I was waiting for the underseal to dry I fitted the front coilovers.

I had a guess at the height to set them at and it came out pretty level. I've fixed it this height until I find some wheels.

Once it was back together I parked it on the drive and had a flashback.

The gearbox oil hadn't been changed for a while so this afternoon I put in some fresh MTF.

Before I could get to anything, the undertray the last owner made had to be taken off.

It was an absolute pig to get off and ended up having to take the manifold off as it was bolted to the brace at the back of the block.

So I changed the oil taking out the VSS.

While that was draining I made some adjustments to the undertray, now I can change the engine and gearbox oil without having to take it off.

A little update..

When it's been sitting for a few days there's not enough juice in the battery to crank it over.

The alternator is OK so either the battery is dead or something is draining it.

I unplugged the fan controller so it isn't that.

good luck finding the drain that could be a total pain . my teg used to do it turned out to be some sub wiring that was never disconnected .

Any chance I can get a template of that under tray? Or sell me the whole thing?
