How's it going guys?

Just wondering if anyone on here has been to Mondello for a track day, whats the track like from a drivers point of view, saw a few video's on youtube and looks quite nice and twisty. Is it well run? Are there a lot of rash Irish drivers? lol

Thinking of taking a trip down early August, is it worth a run down?

Cheers
Kris

I've always wanted to get out onto mondello aswell mate,

We should organise a few of us to head down and make a day of it, looks like a great circuit for our cars being more twisty and no long straights!

Love to go myself!

I would too, and a trip down together would be good. There is one on 5th August, it's a Monday though, would have to see if my dad could get off work as he wants to head down aswell.

I was there as a passanger. Didnt drive it but its quite a tight track theres a few long sweeping bends and a couple of tight technical bits. The officials say theres strictly no racing but to be honest they dont enforce it to strictly and it does get pretty hairy at times! The surface of the track isnt perfectly smooth but its perfectly driveable. Most of the corners are 3rd gear say 60 to 80 mph. At the end of the main straight before we were hitting 120mph or so. The two guys i was up with both in track built tegs had good crack and thought that the track was very well laid out. There only complaint was that it was slippy as **** but it was raining so thats to be excepted. Both are heading back up again for the august bank holiday. It cost them 150 bucks for the half day and both cars used about 80 euros petrol and got around 240km of track miles in the afternoon

would need to get ear defenders for the motorway! 5000rpm all the way down!

Have you MOT'd the track car mate? My car would be screeming on the motorway! I would either need to stick to about 50mph all the way or trailer the car down to mondello

Thanks for the info mate, if it's a Bank Holiday that 5th I think I could only really afford the half day aswell lol. And it sounds like good fun, would just have to be pretty cautious with other drivers.

And Stephen I think I would be on the same boat, 50-60 MPH max, the impracticality of gearing eh?

No problem tbh i wouldnt drive the car im racing guys you wouldnt wanna be stranded in the middle of no where is something bad were to happen and i mean its the middle of nowhere... id trailer it down if at all possible. And book it early. We went to the paddys day one and it filled up about 3weeks before it was on

Tbh I think the better option would be to trailer the cars down, especially since its so far from home if something happened to the car

My mate has a car trailer so I could see if he fancies a road trip and a day out to mondello. My car would be useless on the motorway since fitting the new 4th and 5th ratios

Deffo worth the trip , its very different to Kirkistown and IMO a lot more technical especially so in the wet .

Regards tyre and brake wear , its heavier than Kirkistown , which goes against a lot of stories out there

The ''open days'' which are ran by Mondello are well run , there can be 1 or 2 heros like all public trackdays out there ... using common sense , these will be avoided easy :nice:

Any other info wanted , just shout

I would be interested in going. Can I just bring my car and drive it

great track imo

but some of the local drivers are very aggressive

check my SiR project thread for a few laps around the international track in my car

i live not far from mondello and did my first track day there a month ago in my race teg.id def recommend it, one or two ropey f*ckers but if you keep an eye in the mirrors every now and again its fine. morning session is usually busy but in the afternoon you have the place to yourself more or less.
