I was out driving the other night and the car suddenly started misfiring. I was in VTEC when it happened, if that matters. Limped the car to a junction close by and found the HT Lead on Cylinder 4 wasn't as secure as the others so pushed that back on to the Spark Plug firmly. Had a quick scan, couldn't see much else so started it back up and it continued to misfire. I decided to try and limp the car home thinking it was just a faulty HT Lead but after about 5mins the engine just stopped. No warning lights or anything. It just died. Rolled it in the next junction and found the HT Lead on the Distributor Cap for Cylinder 1(?), Bottom Left of looking dead on to the Cap, was pretty much just sitting at the end of its housing. Reattached it but the car wouldn't spark at all. Turns over fine, it just won't start.
Just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas about the cause of it now not sparking at all? Would one shot HT Lead cause the whole ignition system to stop sending a Spark? Could the cap be done now from the Lead sitting loose and having a dodgy connection?
The Distributor Cap and Rotor Arm were replaced a week ago so I doubt it's them that's caused any issue. I think it's mostly been caused by these lose HT Leads shorting something. Distributor or Ignitor.
Cheers for any help/info.
