Hi all I have a mg zr 1.8 with 52k I have had it 2 years now and got it on 39k. It ran out of mot in October 2011. It has since then been sat up on my drive since. I for I'd better start it as it had been sat there for a year or so. I jumped started it and first turn of the key it started up with no hesitation, I was amazed tbh then I drove it around the block a couple of times, it still drives like new lol.

I have never had so much as a bulb go on it. It was my old daily. I know they have a bad name for themselfs but when taken care of they are very reliable. The head gasket was recalled by main dealer in 2004. I've decided I am going to use it again as I don't want to sell it as its the longest car I have eve owned lol. It's like a mb6 inside clocks ect.

If any one is considering buying on I'd highly recommend it if you find a decent one. They look nice aswell.

I have 2 zr turbos and had a 160 vvc


great cars,, mk2 looks much better than the ek9 and the 160vvc has so much more lower down grunt
 
Have to be 100% honest and say I really don't like them, you do have to admit they do look like a Rover with a bodykit, no? lol

Lol I'd agree but its a improved rover lol.
 
The mk1 looks like a rover but they didn't make many mk2 rover 25s so the mk2 zr still looks fresh

That looks awesome almost looks like a mini monaro haha!

My mrs had a zr, the engine went on the fourth day of owning it :/
New engine then 3 months after the head gasket went haha!
Appart from that it seemed ok, good value for money and the 1.4's go ok for what they are

Didn't mg rover share parts with honda round the time they where making these? I'm thinking some mg's had honda built engines & shared chassis's?..
 
i think they look very good, obvious problems with engine if not looked after. my mate has the 160bhp mk2 and its mint!

I wouldnt have one but they are easy and cheap to fix if needed and cheap to run too!
