Hey everyone! This is my build thread from CRXUK, thought I would get it up on here aswell :D

I sold my ITR about a year ago and have wanted a CRX for alooooooong time! So my search started and may I say it was nigh on IMPOSSIBLE to find a good rex, But I found one! -Sort Of

So a massive 4 hour trip to wales and it DROVE great back no problems what so ever. There is problems with the car and I will go over those later on. So everything looked pretty good with the car, It has rough spots etc etc but nothing I can't sort out. So here's some pictures

So it LOOK'S clean enough but looks can be very deceiving haha!

IMG_3632_zpsshq2je5j.jpg

I have ordered a full top end gasket set! As I am 99% sure it's coming from cam gasket or cam end or VTEC solenoid!

IMG_3671_zpsuqwcdswa.jpg

Yes the bonnet has been sprayed and yes the quater panel is MINT

So today me and my friend ripped the car apart and found some horror's I am not going to lie, I'm sure there is NO filler left in the world

Also the air intake system was just sitting on and not clipped down at all

IMG_3646_zpsoq388hgn.jpg

Big hole in the intake pipe

IMG_3648_zpsrgl3k6rc.jpg

There was a heavy set hose connected into this (I say connected I mean put in/hanging in)

IMG_3660_zpsrxqijzoq.jpg

IMG_3662_zpsraiipivm.jpg

So that's as far as I got....Not sure I want to keep looking  But I will save it! and it WILL live again

I have massive plans for the car, It will be mainly track focused and I do own a YouTube channel with my friend so the whole thing will be vlogged!

What are peoples thoughts!?

FFworks YouTube channel!

More to come in next post .... please wait

I didn't get as much done as I would of liked today BUT I got something done!

Ripped out the seats and the centre console ready to get the carpet up and get it all sprayed and welded (if needed)

IMG_3699_zps80wtpcvw.jpg

IMG_3702_zpsg9le2gjl.jpg

IMG_3700_zps5byejuya.jpg

2 Days into ownership

Busy busy again today!

Found even MORE problems, I took the rest of the interior out (carpet  )

Started hitting the sound deadening to get it out and there was so much water being held in by it! I can't wait to get rid of the rest of it  But I found some horrors underneath!

IMG_3715_zpsz7fn1xnc.jpg

IMG_3719_zpshhldll0w.jpg

IMG_3718_zpslhhdbdfb.jpg

So I was hitting and came across this

IMG_3717_zpsq0fnase9.jpg

I thought hmmm that doesn't look right!

Chipped away the sound deadening around it and found this....

IMG_3720_zps0jpruxb2.jpg

Anyone shed some light? As it LOOK'S like it has been cut or something?! :?

So I turn around and start doing some more

IMG_3722_zpseex9iowq.jpg

BLAM outta nowhere another hole   :x :x That one is by the pedals in the drivers foot well, the other big gash is under the drivers seat

So Everything is on hold really until I get all of the deadening out and check it all. I seriously can't believe how much water it holds UNDERNEATH it, Plus I've done such a small bit and the weight of that bag is stupid!

I'm keeping it all so I will weigh it at the end 8)

Progress has been very slow as I have been away for a small holiday and all I seem to be doing is sound deadening :( It's so boring I just leave it most of the time.

But today I went at it like I was on some kind of teenage drugs!

Started like this

IMG_3718_zpslhhdbdfb.jpg

Ended like this 8)

IMG_3829_zps8tohsctz.jpg

IMG_3830_zps9f2kutmm.jpg

I have the small amount left that you can see also 90% of that heat/sound proof from the firewall is out

IMG_3831_zpsyqo3kdtk.jpg

I found alot of rust in the drivers side heel 'n' toe area

IMG_3825_zps1di6vfny.jpg

It is actually a massive hole, the picture makes it look lovely :) It really isn't

Have been speaking to my mate about doing the welding work as that is what will hold me back, I won't do anything else until it is welded

My plans next are to get it welded, spray the inside all nice and fresh, then start work underneath, stripping it and re wax oyl etc etc, then inside the arches get all bushes done and arms sprayed up and refurb calipers etc. Then underneath both front and back bumpers to tackle and rust coming, and wax oyl the shi* out of it.

Then work on the body as it is a bit rough and needs a good load of TLC. Not sure how much TLC as it will get used on track whenever I can and as much as I can!

Mods will come later and will include-

Braided brake lines
Coilovers
Straight through exhaust
Manifold
Rollcage
Bucket seats
TE37 or RPF01's ...
Intake
ITR cams
ITR inlet
Springs and retainers

First a service and and really good clean up  but on the plus side finding the rust means I can sort it!

I don't want this to be a CRX which sits on my drive for years I want to get it done and use it bring it to shows and enjoy it on track (what it is being made for) And socialise with you other CRX owners  are we all as mad as each other :?:

Thanks!

UPDATES!!!!!!!

So I set my target on ripping apart the outside to give it a well earned clean and refresh!

For some reason I found next to nothing rust wise?!!?!?! This car never ceases to amaze me!

I started on the rear end .... as thats my style..

IMG_0024_zps0dmgkql3.jpg

IMG_0027_zpsjrk4m8y2.jpg

Then I went and tackled the front (front bumper was a BIT** to get off.....) I had to take the crash bar off through the indicator lights as the bumper bolts at the top were rusty as hell!

Poor little honda !never seen a oil leak that bad there ,lol
I do love the crx , you have your work cut out bud ,
But hope you get there in the end .

I know right! I got all the stuff to do it, and I wanted a project and it seems that is what the guy sold me....

Always fun working on this car, we always find something  It'll get there though man keep it up!

Damn I need to update this, I will get it all uploaded tomorrow night! Done a lot since this ..... Sort of :D thanks for the kind words!

Gettin there bud, itl sure keep u busy
got a crx in the garage to work on to :)

Right big update time!

I'm not sure where to start this....

As we all know the crusty rex had a MAJOR oil leak from the head, so I bought myself a rocker gasket, cam end seal and VTEC solenoid seal

I got onto fixing that with my mate Aaron!

IMG_0074_zpslo39xqly.jpg

IMG_0072_zpsxecrre2h.jpg

Still need to clean all of the area but fingers crossed it fixed it! All appropriate Honda Bond was used so it should be fine, You might also notice I got myself a standard bit of piping for an intake system, might look for a DC2 box!

Not sure if I have posted these-

Took my sill covers off and found they are fullllll of filler so i rubed it all down flat and painted it in hammerite for now till next year I will get the arches and sills done properly!

IMG_0061_zpsjthgtpqd.jpg

IMG_0063_zpsb5dbemfy.jpg

Inside of the arch wells were looking VERY VERY well used so I grinded back to bare metal in any rust areas and put on some rust stuff and hammerite black it all!

This included under the rear boot, I still need to take the fuel take out and do all of that and underside of the car! heres some pics!

All of them before looked like this-

And now!

All tight now!

And I got rid of ALL of the sound deadening and glue crap they use

IMG_0271_zpslkuyjeen.jpg

Wow u really went to town on this man. Fair play to ya :nice:

As a fellow honda owner thats one thing thats always killed me.

All the work you could do to restore/preserve the car and ppl will jus look at it goin "where did u put all the money?"

:eew: Haha you know what i mean all the small bits like touch ups an that really make a difference. Also fair play for tackling the rust and fixing it rather than goin "oh its ****** il break it" #gowls :nono:

:)) So good job basically an much respect was all i was sayin with all my waffle hahaha
