lsd help plz

ok i have the chance of gettin a lsd out of an ek9. the only problem iv got is i drive an ek4 vti with a b16a2 not sure if this lsd will fit my gear box. is there anyone out there that knows and can help me. plus has anyone done this mod before if u can. how did it feel

it fits, i believe you need some extra parts, search the transmission forum you should find your answer...
 
You will need either the oem B16B or B18C Ring Gear.

Alternatively, you can upgrade your final drive with a B16B/18C fitment :)
 
my friend baught a brand new OEM EK9 LSD which did not fit his Ek4 tranny..! Maybe cos he required the 'Ring gear'...

he baught another one instead... iam now on the search for an LSD for me own B16A tranny, so if OEM '9' LSD fits i might get hold of his which he never got rid off. . .

It 100% won't fit the B16A unless you use the B16B/18C ring gear.

No OEM lsd will fit your non-lsd B16A, not even the factory-option B16A LSD.

You have 3 options if you want an LSD:

1) Purchase a B16A fitment LSD (e.g Kaaz, Quaife etc)
2) Purchase an oem B16B/18C 4.4 Ratio Ring Gear + oem or aftermarket B16B/18C LSD
3) Purchase an aftermarket B16B/18C Final Drive (Ring Gear + Pinion. Any ratio) + oem or aftermarket B16B/18C LSD

so say i was to fit say your 4.75 final drive for an ek9 into my b16a2 gear box would i then be able to put the ek9 lsd in. or have i got u all wrong mfactory

yes, if you fit our B16B/18C fitment final drive, you can use the EK9 lsd :)

thanks very much for the info. well give me a few months to get some money together and will get a 4.75 fd kit from u. do they work well on a ek4.

ha ha if i had the money i would bud. so just makin my ek4 as close to a ek9 as u can get and u can do mods in stages i think its more fun this way. cos if i got a ek9 i would be to scared to tuch it cos it would mean to much to me. where as ek4 u dont care lol.

ye i really need a lsd on the 1/4 u cant get the foot down it just spins. i know the lsd wont stop wheel spin but drive going to both wheels is always going to be better.
