Hi guys, now i know what most people are thingking, i need a baffled sump? Well i already have the tegiwa baffles welded in which i done my self. Another thought was that maby because the oil was low, but it wasnt, it was half way between min and max which should be fine but when i corner faiy hard the pressure drops to about 2bar instantly and then back up when i strainten up. Any ideas ? Or do i just need to drive with it abit overfilled. Cheers

In the middle of the stick means you're Half a litre empty. If you're turning hard on sticky tires.... But you say you already have a baffled sump. How good are these tegiwa sumps? Where does your gauge get its feedback from? Used a sandwich plate?

Fill it to the max mark!!
And it should be fine :)
I've never got oil starvation and run the same type of sump baffling.

The next step up is the kicked out moroso sump with trap doors, but running at max oil level you will be fine :)

when on track i fill my SiR a few mm above the max mark as anything below halfway between the two marks on the stick and my vtec cuts out on left hand corners

however my oil pressure never drops like the OP's problem

im using a GReddy oil pressure gauge taken its reading from a sandwich plate at the oil filter

I always run full to just over and never had a problem.

I used weld in baffles on two different pans on my b18c5. Both failed to work or keep pressure in long sweepers...I think that these weld in's are ok for the average driver but not for the more advanced. I bolted on the moroso kick out and baffled pan and I no longer experience pressure drop due to cornering, done and done. I even installed one on my street car which sees track time once in a blue moon.

Cheers for the feedback guys, i wasnt sure if anyone els experienced the same problem but it looks like im not the only one. I think i will just overfill it abit from now on. Thanks alot guys

I have a defi oil pressure and temp off a sandwich plate so should be pretty accurate.

oil surge on left hand turns and fuel surge on right hand turns :p

what are the symptoms of fuel surge?
fuel pump sucking up air due to fuel sloshing around in the tank.

results in a complete loss of power as no petrol is getting to the engine

on a high power car can turn bad real fast so sometimes you may see fuel surge tanks fitted to prevent this

best way to test it is if you wait untill your car is low on fuel ( fuel light has been on for a few miles) try going around a roundabout a few times and accelerating hard off it...i find some cars do it more than others but i like to drive on the red light to save weight on the road in the event of a challenge

i expreienced fuel surge on trackjust felt like the car cut out mid corner. So i pulled in and topped it up :)

Just topped up my oil so im on full now, still does it but only when you hold the turn really sharp. Shall i overfill it slightly ?

Overfill it a little yes
You sure sump is baffled? Did you fit them?

Ignore that I just read your post
What tyres are you running? Stock suspension also?

maybe pull the sump off to check everything is ok

I agree, it only takes a second running without oil to cause damage.
Open it up and have it looked at closely.

Moroso kick out with baffles is cheep insurance. $300ish USD.

I run the standard moroso and have never seen oil starvation,
Which is effectively the same as his weld in tegiwa baffles.

What car are we talking about?
You've got the correct sump fitted? Some vary in depth and require different pick ups, just a thought
