Well yes, cutting material out of anything will cause weight loss, but its not worth hacking up a car to remove 10 pounds. Cutting holes in a bumper cover as a defuser will reduce drag, but no cut weight.

Just do this.

Before mods:
Curb Weight: 2,762 lbs
1/4 Mile:16.3 @ 84.0 mph
60-foot:2.9 sec.
0-60 mph:8.6 sec.

After mods:
Curb Weight:1,674 lbs
1/4 Mile:14.3 @ 93.2 mph
60-foot:2.6 sec.
0-60 mph:5.8 sec.

i was referring to asad's question about cutting holes in the bumper..i did not say that cutting holes will light weight his ride.

YOU said: "your wrong about these my friend....there is a thread here about the rear holes in the bumper and its quite amazing...."

:blabla:

Now now children, play nice :)

Cutting holes in your bumper will of course save weight, even if it is minimal! Cutting holes in the rear bumper aids airflow most of all since the rear bumper on civics acts as a mahoosive parachute

Take the carpet out, passenger seat and back seats with belts need to go, spare tire and jack need to go, take AC 100% out, passenger mirror can go, power windows can go if you have them...for starters.

Wiper fluids can go as well as everything that goes with the wiper motors...this is where you start to go crazy with weight reduction...have fun!

ABS out
Power Steerng out
Air con out
Calcium Battery
Complete strip out of interior
Lightweight bodypanels
Lightweight wheels P1's are good.

dam Iv even cut the inner door and tailgate skins out, removed the heater/AC system and halfed the wiring in the car, WIth out a cage you can get an Ek down to just under a 100kgs pretty easy, with 200bhp that makes for a track car

thank you guys for all this info and am looking f to read more info ! What about corners can this issu makes dif ?or not

not really but these cars were balanced perfectly so if you have a really really light front end it will drive like turd!

It wont handle like turd if you make it as light as you possibly can and then have it corner weighted, if you have coilovers that is
Itll just make it faster even with stock power

As mentioned, have it corner weighted after and it will corner superbly

Lighter wheels/tyres is a big one, being rotational mass you will notice a decent difference in how nimble it feels on turn in and with acceleration

Why's nobody mentioned removing the sound-deadening?

As well as that, remove pretty much anything you don't want to keep. ABS, Power Steering, Air Con, interior etc. Light weight wheels will make a big difference, they're the best thing I've done so far!

What have you already got stripped from your motor? What is the car getting used for, track, drag, street ect ?
