:nice:

hello people
My name is Gav im 23 and i currently own a ST205 GT4, and im looking in to getting a EK9.
Ive owned a 97 EK4 VTI for two years before the GT4 but i just love the vtec and the Ek9 is one of the cars i have always wanted. Dont get me wrong i love my GT4 with the power straight there, but im thinking of a change so wanting to look into the world of EK9s :nice:

Just a few questions really.
What sort of price would a decent Ek9 set me back?
Im thinking about 40-50k miles on the clock.
Facelift one would be nice.
Ive noticed alot of Ek9's going for 6k on auto trader and piston heads, are these too cheap?

Are there any importers who are recomended who import EK9's?
Any ones to advoid?

Ive noticed alot of cars on here are white, just wondering how many were made in black, and silver?

How tuneable are the Ek9's? Iwould want to put full exhaust system on, manifold, d-cat ect, and air filter, what sort of power should this make?

Is there anyone on here who lives in the east anglia region?

Sorry for all the questions, any info greatly recieved

Thanks
Gav:)

speak to type-r-dunk on this site ,or buy mine:) good luck with your hunting they are a fine beast

ok thanks guys, seems like type r dunc is the man to speak to for a clean EK9
from looking at the website.

jim- unfortuantly im not in the position to buy an EK9 at the moment, will need to sell the GT4 first, thanks for the heads up anyway.

turbotovtec- from your user name im assuming you had a turbo car before your type r? What did you have? how did you find it going from turbo to n/a (not just any n/a though:))

Thanks

Gav

i had a little starlet gt, sensible mods, sus, exhaust etc. i really liked the little turbo because of the torque and i thought it handled fairly good. my two mates drive hondas and i got the notion for vtec. went for the ek9. i have not been disapointed yet, its outstanding to drive, quick off the mark, and it goes round corners like its on rails! again the common grudge is the slight lack of torque. i was planning on coilovers for when i bought the car but i the handles so well in standard form i havnt even looked into buying them yet.

i do miss the instant power of the turbo, but when other people are changing gear you have 2000rpm to go lol

i came from a 198bhp glanza,to a 320bhp 98 celica gt4 and then onto an ek9
the drive of the ek9s are something special,i love it,but missed turbo power so i got me a new baby along with my ek9:nice:

turbotovtec- thats good that you are not dissapointed with the switch, those starlets are nice little cars, my mate has one and im impressed by them.
Yes one of the problems with them is the torque but keep them in the vtec and is all good.

Sb-performance- ok thanks will look into you as well when looking.

absolutlysideways- i reconise your user name from the gt4oc, its good that youve come from a gt4 to ek9 and say the drive is special, how exactly does it compare to the gt4? Better? Mine is currently 324 bhp and lowered on adjustable dampers. I have a feeling i will miss the turbo but really do love hondas, might have to get a turbo on the side as well if i have enough money lol. Nice evo btw very nice

hi guys anyone looking to buy a mint 97 ek9 in white with 49000 miles on the clock this car wont be in the uk for around another 9 wks cheers

Good luck with selling the 205, sounds like a nice one. Will you be going to JAE Jap car show? If you do this would be a good opportunity to meet all us owners and get lots of advise on what to look for.
Thanks Duncan (type-r-dunk)

Hello Duncan
Yes think i will be going to JAE this year, is not too far from me.
How many people from here are going?
Would be really good to look around a few EK9's and talk to you guys in person.
Cheers Gav
