locking door from inside problem!

Hi guys, i know there is alot of central locking threads and i have looked but cannot find anything with a problem like mine. Bacically i cannot unlock or lock either of the front doors with the lock buttons inside the car, everytime you try to unlock/lock the doors from inside the switch just springs back, anyone have any ideas? Its been like it since i have had the car but never botherd me until the central locking stopped working :-S

Has it got a CAT 1 alarm fitted? Pull the door cards of and take a look.

if it is the alarm you can re-program some of the branded alarms.

i had a similar problem on 2 ek's, it locked the doors if you started the car up with the doors closed, and then you couldnt re open them.. so i always started the car with the doors open

yes thats the exact problem I used to have. but now the alarm system works (arms /disarms) but it doesn't actually lock or unlock the doors and the locks will still spring back. I cant understand why the central locking has now stopped working completely, could be relay but will have to strip it down and have a look. any other ideas ?

Try pulling the inside door handle open and hold open while flicking the lock switch to lock or unlock.
