Myself and a Friend are seriously considering the move from donegal to london. We will only be moveng if we can find work. Could anyone tell me what the cost of living, rent etc is like in london. All we would be after is a basic apartment or flat to stay in while working. Thanks in advance.

Rediculous.
Better off staying just outside of London.

what would be the normal run of the mill price per week for a 2 bed house/appartment just outside london be? is work plentiful?

Honestly it depends on the area. One of my neibours is paying £1300 a month.
But 5 mins down the road you'll £800 or less.
Flats in dartford are like £550.
That's all monthly.

I used to live in London.

Rent/mortgage prices are mental.
You have to take into consideration as well which zone you live in for your oyster as it can get really expensive, really fast. Then there are things like congestion charges, council tax, electric, parking etc.

Think of every aspect of your life, whether you drive or not and then do some serious research into it.

Up in Yorkshire, I could afford to live by myself on about £17,000.
In London, You'd be looking at living on around £20,000 if you wanted to have a bit of playtime money in your pocket at the end of the month.

Stay away.
London is just horrible.
I'd love to escape this hell hole.
As soon as I leave the m25 boundary everything is immediately better.

Your not the only one lad, my brother in oz is telling me to go over, only job would be for a hape of you to live together to try and pull some money out of it

you might be better off commuting to London from somewhere like Guildford, Camberley, Woking area it would be cheaper than living in London itself and the commute isn't too bad!

I know a lot of people who commute from just outside of reading, places like Tilehurst, Theale and Calcot and properties are cheap there!

Think it was around £140+ per week for a **** small room in a house share.

Budget around £225+ per week for an apartment.

If you live outside of London and commute into london just for work then whats the point? Only association you have with London then is walking off of the bus or Train to wherever it is you work, once you are in your place of work or office then its the same as anywhere else in the UK.

If you live outside of London to commute in then I wouldnt just look at just outside, I would look at where the good train routes are and look at places hour away. Can save a fortune, and places that are in a more affordable price range will be more common.

At least then you can travel into London to meet mates or anything on the social side. An hour is nothing lets face it, I bet alot of people on here travel 30/40 miles to work and it takes them an hour.

That's my opinion anyway. I would hate to live in London, but I like the social side, I suppose its just an experience to put on your life CV living in London, at least you can say yeh I lived in London, or I live in London.

Im currently in the process of a working holiday in Australia, and it made me think, why dont I just relocate somewhere else in the UK. But it will be an entirely different lifestyle and experience in Australia. Which is why I have decided against relocating in the UK as I see it as no advantage from my current place I live now in england.
