Hey guys. I came across this link earlier:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QttFleEeIw

I was jus wondering what launch tecnhiques you all use i.e. what rpm to get the best launch? I know the ek9 in the above link has launch control, but is it still possible to get a similarly good launch without it?

:thanks:

i use launch control set at 4500rpm and ease out the clutch slowly.

I would like to know the best way to launch without Launch Control.... got some times to beat on the 1/4 mile next year could do with some help lol

bout 3000rpm an hold the clutch to the point jus before it bites wit the handbrake holdin the car incase it starts to roll a lil.

Hey guys...

Well the surface I drag on is pretty poor, crail raceway in scotland. Ive tried all sorts of launch techniques - from 2k RPM to 9k RPM..

The way I find best is to sit with revs just touching vtec, then ease the clutch out while adding more revs and power - it will bog down for split second then bang your straight into vtec - balance the power with the grip lost untill you feel the car start to get good grip down then its full speed ahead captain !!

I will also be running launch control soon, see how it goes !!!

Cheers - Andy

You guys all have uprated clutches right? Launching would destroy a standard clutch!
I've only launched a couple of times as I can't afford a new clutch right now! But how I do it is rev upto 3k holding just on the bite so I don't move, then when I want to launch I add revs in a smooth fashion and smoothly let the clutch up. The best way is to be smooth, if you drop the pedals and are rough with it then you'll damage the components, make the take off jerky, and possibly lose traction due to the sudden power being put through.
I will try out a VTEC launch when the weather is better, see how well it goes!

i have a standard clutch an have launched MANY times an iv never had a prob...uprated clutches jus hold the power better.

its crail i go to what sort of times do you get i havent took my 9 down it yet.

For NA people I recomend you forget launch control, unless your running some sticky slicks.

Me and my friends have had a few B20's and there by far the hardest to launch because of the ammount of torque. Now from my experience of launching a NA is to rev the car to 4000-4500 and dump the clutch...now you just control that throttle and feed the power with your foot. Out of all the techniques out there, this one wins all my races.

For some reason, when I put a link to a vid. It wont let me post??

Thanks
Yasir
