Kid-Vtek's Canadian EK build: CR-Vtec Turbo

Yeah for sure, are you a member of beyond.ca? They usually meet up every Wednesday (not too sure about winter but spring/summer) at chinook mall. I try my best to come out once and a while

Yeah I am but my computer doesn't like to work that site very well so I get annoyed quickly I was going to go down there but won't be many nice cars in the winter time. Plus i'm in Cochrane so it's a little ways to get there to not see many cars show up haha

Yeah the winter car scene is pretty much extinct but I don't mind, let's me focus on working on my car haha

Yeah mine's kind of my daily at the moment so I can't go too crazy so i'm just collecting parts until spring then i'll put it all on and next winter tear into it some more.

tiny update my wheels have been ordered.... this has to be my most opulent purchase of my build so far so i kind of want to keep them under wraps for now. i will say this they are a 3 - piece forged wheel, 16x8 +26 and pretty dam rare. Cant wait to get my hands on them! 6-8 weeks away however as they are made to order :( keep you guys updated!

Small update:
Finally got around to removing all the interior except for the dash.Ii am leaving in place for now because once the engine is out (hopefully this weekend), i will be relocating the fuse box to the glove box and i need the glove box in place so i know how to route my wires.

im having a hell of a time removing the sound deaden material... ive read on line that dry ice works wonders but i have no idea how to handle it or where to find it. Any input on how to better remove it is much appriciated!! :-\

How she sits now

could have been a cool pic if i had a better camera lol

SAM_0405.jpg

Roll cage soon to be ordered and then welded in place before paint, im looking for a place to get this done. From my understanding the best or "professional" way to weld in a cage is with the vehicle on a jig... not sure if this is necessary

began stripping the sound deadening material today. I am amazed at how well dry ice works! unfortunately i under estimated how much i would need and i only had enough for the front section of the car. i showed a friend that stripped his interior on his old integera and he was not pleased at all, he said it took him 2 days to clear the section i did which took me an hour tops lol.

it pretty cool as soon as you put the ice on the surface u can hear it popping and cracking

if i can get an engine crane lined up for tomorrow im going to try my best to have the engine out, more to come!

I didint want a lack of dry ice to stop my progress tonight so i set my focus on the engine removal. dropped the fluids, removed the rad which happen to **** the bed.

the original plan was to relocate the fuse box to the glove back but after some test fitments the modifications required to make it work seem unnecessary. so after a little playing around i chose here

SAM_0457_zpsac0153a2.jpg

since my car is base model and does not have air bags ill be placing it here, fit much nicer. ill rig something up so i can just pop the dash panel off for easy access.

got the main harness out

tomorrow i will try and get the fuse box mounted and wires soldered in place so i can move onto the headlights next.

Good progress look forward to your updates got myself a milano red ek :))

Didnt get as far as i want to this weekend, too much other stuff going on but i managed to get the dash out and passenger side completely wire tucked. ill start on the driver side when i get around to it but probably not till after Christmas. building cars near Christmas hurts the wallet and when you brother's Bday (Dec12) and mother's bday (Dec25) are in the same month things can get out of control quickly. so for my brother's bday i polished his car. turned out pretty good, its a 3 stage polish. also the whole front end is 3M including half the hood, before i started the 3M was starting to fade but now u can hardly tell its even there.
