Hi guys,
These days I'm thinking a lot about which engine is better, more reliable?
I know facts that b20vtec is much cheaper to build, than to swap k20.
Also B20vtec is very easy to build, not like a k20, so I would like to know your opinion, what should I do and why? Which engine runs better? Which is more reliable?
Thanks

my god, this has been covered a million times. Pros and cons to both.

Hmmmm dont think thats right

Easy- K20 is a lot easier to live with and to tune/mod

Again easy-K20

You say that it is hard to build a b20 vtec?
It is very easy, because b20 is bolt on, not like k20 also, b20 ecu is very cheap, and you say, that stock k20 will run better than stock b20 vtec? I've watched a lot drag and track videos B20 vs k20 on youtube, but I couldn't say, that k20 is better all the way :?

Think it is

You can reuse SO many of your current parts, on the cheap you could build a B20

K20 swap even with the amount of swap parts available it is no way straight forward, yes you're not splitting engines, but it's not easy and to do proper costs ALOT

to get a B20 to perform as well as a standard K20 you will be wanting a proper built engine, forged internals and cams etc

If you have the money and want the bragging rights go with k20, if you want simalair results for a less costly price go with the b20..

Its all down to what you can spend, Ive seen a recent post where a lad is selling a full K20 coversion on this forums if your interested in buying give him a shout!

Yer thats how i was looking at it. So all in all i think the cost would be close to doing a full K swap. But im not so hot on built B20 engines so don't know the costs involved.

Basically to make a b20 perform the same as a k20 will NOT be cheap. It would mean a fully forged engine pistons, rods, cams, valvetrain and then management. This is maybe going to cost 1000-1500 less than a kswap after selling all the bseries parts. Also then OEM reliability of the K vs a fully built engine.

If your talking about a half arsed cheapy b20 swap, then your never going to do a kswap. People who spend 5-7000 on an engine swap dont post about it on a forum.

I totaly disagree with you, we made to my friend b20vtec, it only had short ram and it made 200bhp on dyno, so it is the same as a k20a2.
Also I am asking for it, because I want to know is it worth to lose that much money, when you can have the same much cheaper.

You obviously dont really know what your talking about.

No kswap will make 200bhp, unless the engines pumped. To do a kswap properly you need an aftermarket exhaust manifold, normally mated to aftermarket exhaust, as well as this you should use Kpro and a swap intake.

This combination makes around 220-230bhp and 160lbs ft.

No standard b20 will make that, ever.

You obviously want to do it on the cheap, so do a half arsed b20

h2b
h22 engine with a b series gearbox very under rated swap imo

Bit of an old school conversion this but underrated

IMO i would go for the K20. stronger engine and probably more easy to tune later on

how is a B20VTEC easier to build than a K20....the K20 comes built, B20Vtec doesnt lol.

K20 swap would be much better, there is no doubt about that.

K24 exhaust mani is perfect for ek, also, if you change all wiring you don't need to buy kpro, you can use standart ecu...
