Well as promised i am starting my thread for my mk1 rs no.3338.

A big change from my old evo and parts car and safe to say my favourite by a country mile

I have copied and pasted in my experience of how i came to purchase my mk1:

So where do i begin......

I had always wanted a mk1 rs from when my dad had owned one when they first came out. Obviously at the time was just beginning to appreciate how great a car the rs was and from then on i had always said to myself i would own one, one day.

I had been scanning the forum and the net since selling my evo 9 last year and although there were plenty for sale they were either over priced or complete sheds when i went to view them. The other night i had been on pistonheads and had come across what i believed to good to be true however a phone call would not hurt and so i called the owner and had a long discussion regarding his car. i decided to take the plunge and make the 5 hour journey to nottingham from glasgow. And to say i was delighted was an understatement. Everything had been as described which nowadays is very rare.

So here is the spec:

55k miles from new
full ford service history
no. 3338
completely standard

My plans is to full restore the underside and possibly next winter get the bodywork redone, it really is mint however i am a perfectionist and like things to be perfect haha

Over the next few weeks i am going to be purchasing the following parts:

dump valve
forge actuator
new discs and pads
refurb wheels
get it serviced at ford

I would normally service the car myself however i feel it is a real shame not to keep the book with ford

Here is a wee teaser of how she sits at the moment,

Sorry for the poor quality i have just started working on the car so will be plenty of good quality ones to come when my camera decides to work haha

I have just purchased a few items from the boys at car parts express, big thanks to graham for doing such a great deal.

The following items purchased are as follows:

ebc front and rear discs
mintex front pads
standard ford rear pads
recirc dump valve
bluefin remap

This will allow me to start and see how car performs with the above. future plan is to upgrade and purchase the following:

scangauge
forge actuator
decat
miltek or mongoose cat back

That is her for now as she is currently off the road for strip down and full underseal

As always comments and criticism welcome

Any input into parts etc would be appreciated

I have always liked them. Very nice car to look at.

Will be good to see how it go's up against the Jordan :nerv:

Lovely car, i did have a brief look at them a while ago. Me and my mate used to go to "Ford Fair" show, and always drive home wanting a MK1 RS. Will keep a watch on the progress

Noice :nice:. A mate of mine has one of these; brilliant car imo cannot fault them. He does however complain about the diff being a bit too aggressive on wet roads, I've not driven it yet so I can't really compare to the Nine. How are you finding it mate? :)

Looks swell dan I'll need to jump up your work and have a look

Torque steer monster lol. Gimme a shout when your in the area to get a swatch at this, maybe a wee cheeky race :naughty:

Had nothing but problems with mine, never ending money pit!!!

FORD = ****** Or Repaired Daily > from my personal experience!!!

I hope its no where near as bad an experience for you as it was for me....but the main thing is, you try and keep it a while :run:

was wondering when you were going to be on this thread son haha

Love the car to pieces and going by rsoc forum heard a lot of good things about them, seem to be highly rated. suppose it goes down to how hard a life they have had and most importantly the previous owner kept it standard so had piece of mind there :)

Dan - something on your sig

"If its not jap its utter crap"

lol, i wait for this to vanish ha. :nice:

if you go to an enthusiasts webpage and ask about one of the cars they are mad about.....you wont hear **** things

Personally wish they stuck with the YB engine in the mk1 not the shitty duratec :((

Good luck with it :nice:

Nice clean car bud. But how long will it last? You are chasing the buzz you only get from a Honda man. You just need to admit it to yourself.

I am home soon so i will pop over for a wee look none the less ;)
