Well as promised i am starting my thread for my mk1 rs no.3338.
A big change from my old evo and parts car and safe to say my favourite by a country mile
I have copied and pasted in my experience of how i came to purchase my mk1:
So where do i begin......
I had always wanted a mk1 rs from when my dad had owned one when they first came out. Obviously at the time was just beginning to appreciate how great a car the rs was and from then on i had always said to myself i would own one, one day.
I had been scanning the forum and the net since selling my evo 9 last year and although there were plenty for sale they were either over priced or complete sheds when i went to view them. The other night i had been on pistonheads and had come across what i believed to good to be true however a phone call would not hurt and so i called the owner and had a long discussion regarding his car. i decided to take the plunge and make the 5 hour journey to nottingham from glasgow. And to say i was delighted was an understatement. Everything had been as described which nowadays is very rare.
So here is the spec:
55k miles from new
full ford service history
no. 3338
completely standard
My plans is to full restore the underside and possibly next winter get the bodywork redone, it really is mint however i am a perfectionist and like things to be perfect haha
Over the next few weeks i am going to be purchasing the following parts:
dump valve
forge actuator
new discs and pads
refurb wheels
get it serviced at ford
I would normally service the car myself however i feel it is a real shame not to keep the book with ford
Here is a wee teaser of how she sits at the moment,
Sorry for the poor quality i have just started working on the car so will be plenty of good quality ones to come when my camera decides to work haha
I have just purchased a few items from the boys at car parts express, big thanks to graham for doing such a great deal.
The following items purchased are as follows:
ebc front and rear discs
mintex front pads
standard ford rear pads
recirc dump valve
bluefin remap
This will allow me to start and see how car performs with the above. future plan is to upgrade and purchase the following:
scangauge
forge actuator
decat
miltek or mongoose cat back
That is her for now as she is currently off the road for strip down and full underseal
As always comments and criticism welcome
Any input into parts etc would be appreciated
