JohnTurbo's B18C EK4 Race Car

Cheers mate, bored a 3" hole to the left of the mouth on the front bumper. The cold air feed came with a trumpet on each end which was handy for slotting into the hole i bored lol

Lol, il wait till I see yours then before I attack mine!!

Over the last month or so with the trackdays stopped for winter I got a chance to do a bit of work on the car. I decided to install an M-factory close ratio gearset which IMO is the best mod you can do for a b16a powered civic because of the lack of torque

Out With the box...

Then stripped down and rebuilt, all of the syncros are still within their tolerances and in great condition, I use 10w40 engine oil in the box as it doesn't thin as much with the heat on track and change it every trackday. I replaced the bearings with genuine parts even though they were all fine

Box sealed up with Hondabond and reinstalled, it definitely gets easier when you have done it once or twice before

Then to freshen up the interior, a colour change was what I decided to do. The car is currently in the bodyshop undergoing a full respray, with new ek9 bumpers and lips and having rear 1/4 repair panels welded in to make sure its rust free :nice: I will post pics in a couple of weeks when it's done

Few pics of interior

sack that! get a plated 1.5 way, best mod i did on my jordan...was proper savage!

No need for anything more, the oem Honda LSDs are great and work very well for my setup.

I have seen a few quaffe and other plated diffs fail with heavy track use but I know the Honda helical diff will not let me down, I got it for a good price aswell

What ratios did you go for?

I bought my son an Mfactory gearkit for xmas for his b16 trackcar. :)

Ah I may be building something like this on a smaller buget though will be following this thread:) great build

3rd-1.695
4th-1.296
5th-1.033

It would have been nice to go the slightly shorter 4th and 5th but I need at least 120mph top end for my local track

Cheers, to give you an idea, after buying the car and selling all the interior, CD player, exhaust, and standard wheels the car only stood me about £900...it now stands me just under 5k

Get another seat put into it so i can get a run round kirky we you lol. Will be a real nice car when the paint is finished mate keep up the good work.

Cheers mate, another seat would make it too heavy lol

I will put another seat in at some point for a passenger

UPDATES

The car is currently with "WEZ CAR BODY REPAIRS"
I worked with Wez's dad and always knew that he was a great painter and metal worker but seeing the work he has done I wouldn't give a car to anyone else. His welding, body work and painting is flawless

The car has had rear 1/4 panel repair sections welded in and any rust that used to be there has been completely cut out to leave a solid shell (unfortunately I didnt get a chance to take pics of the 1/4 repair before it was primed). The car is currently in primer

The only other area of rust that we found was the upper chasis legs behind the front wheel arch. After wire wheeling it didn't look too bad but when the bad metal was cut out it looked worse from behind

Then after all the welding was done I treated it with red oxide primer. I also wire brushed the inner arches and cleaned them with solvent and a scotch pad. Next was a fresh coat of undersealer.

I also lifted all of the looms over the engine and rubbed the engine bay down ready for paint

Gt job mate! Keep up the good work. Hope it's finished for sunday! As you know white civics r faster!

coming along very nicely. hopefully i might actually get to kirkstown this year and see it in action.

Nice work, interior looks mint! Have heard wez is a great painter so im sure it will look class when its finished. What colour you painting the outside mate?

Cheers for the comments

The amount of work that goes into prepping a car for paint to make sure there are no problems is crazy

So... got the inside of the doors, bootlid, door checks and engine bay painted :nice: The paint looks creamy but its because of the light as we chose the lightest shade of Champ white

All of the work above was done yesterday so we hung the doors back on today, but my interior spray job looked awfull next to the champ white there was such a big difference in colour and the finish of my aerosol spray job really let the car down.

So spent most of today prepping the inside and then let the professional do a proper job
