Bit sad to see it go like this. So far, I'm regretting breaking it, time will tell if it was a bad move or not. Parts don't sell quickly at all. I don't know if anyone else who's broken one has noticed this; I'm sure most of the people who send messages after parts are just enquiring on the off chance you don't know the values and they'll pick up a bargain rather than being genuinely interested.

On this car, few of the rust spots I noticed were on the passenger side sill, under the side skirt. I poked a screw driver straight through. Also on the drivers side inner sill where the floor pan meets and also under the rubber on the boot at the top. Might be worth other checking these areas.

another 123 posts before you can sell :p What's going on with this shell? scrappies?? such a waste but I guess it would just be too much to restore it.. wings and bonnet worth a few bob if you kept them aside

Those 123 posts can't come soon enough.

The shell will be weighed in for scrap metal I assume. May end up in a scrappy 1st.

I kept the boot but all the other panels went with the car. I haven't had anyone ask about panels, the wings had signs of rust and had dents, one of the doors wasn't great, one was ok but the loom was hacked up on it. Just couldn't be bothered to have loads of panels around as i'm moving away in a weeks time and will be leaving bit at my parents place.

I tried to remove the rear 1/4 glass, was rushing as the car was getting picked up. Ended up with one exploding in my face, cut my cheek and side of the eye. Also got hit square in the eye. Must have got mega lucky, must have hit me with a flat edge.

I'm just going to sell all the type-r bits on ebay and see how it goes, see if I make or loose.

The amount of people asking me for bit and then not getting back to me, I thought I must have been over pricing things hugely (I tend to work my prices out from ebay or this forum). I was asking £65 for the carpet, it sold on ebay for £80, was asking £130 for the clocks, sell on ebay £150 so my prices must be ok after all.

I broke a 206 GTI start to finish in 2 weeks. So far, i've been breaking this for 2 weeks and sold a handful of parts (rear arb, hubs, door card, carbon dash, speedo, carpet). Real slow going.

^^^ yup! still got the interior plastics as well in there. complete waste of a car......

There are no interior plastics of any value in there. It does look better in the photos than it does in real life, it was scabby up close. It's not such a loss really. Panel gap on the front was shocking, rust on the wing where it meets the bumper, rear arch starting to go. I'm not sad to see the back of it. From a time and financial point of view, I'd probably have been better off selling it for 3.5k and letting someone else have the headaches.

I would have probably taken the headliner off you man, and possibly the mirrors too. How much you getting from the scrappies anyway? I got quoted for £100

I didn't get anything for it. It's a bit quiet in Cornwall, not many scrap firms about. The 2 willing to get it wouldn't offer anything. Sucks.

The headliner went with the shell, have the mirrors tho.

I don't think you could have gotten 3.5K for it to be honest. I listed my car on Ebay for 3.3K and had 0 bids and only offers below 3K (I'd probably take 3K at this point, going to re-list this weekend), it's in better condition than how you described yours.

Not sure your reason for trying to sell exactly (mine is work related). I'm almost wondering if you had buyers remorse after you got it. Mine's going to sit for 6-8 months doing nothing so it's hard to justify keeping it (especially since I can't take it state side). I'd rather sell it a bit cheaper to an enthusiast to keep it alive on the road.

Either way, we all got our reasons. You have to do what it takes to take care of yourself and your own. Good luck with your breaking.

I think your right, doubt I could have got 3.5k for it, especially as it wasn't uk registered. That's what pushed me to breaking it. It needed too much money spent just to sort out issues (the MOT didn't pick up on an ABS issue, a shot lower ball joint or 2 split engine mounts.) I didn't want to chuck good money after bad trying to sort it out as the condition of the car meant i'd never be happy with it. I basically got tucked up with the car, it was a pup.

I've picked up a mega cheep Alfa GTV V6 so i'll enjoy that for a while and see about getting a better EK9 in the future.

the roof skin and windscreen would also have been worth saving...

What a waste of a decent car.

It has been metioned before but, it does seem quite pathetic that another EK9 is destroyed just because someone was to lazy to fix a few faults to get it through MOT.

You could have easily sold it on for a fair price. But instead you would rather destroy it in the off chance of making your money back.

Sorry to sound bitter but this sort of thing sickens me.

When you break a car you have to make a decision based on effort vs money you'll get for it. Neither are worth the hassle removing. I don't plan on sitting on parts for months on end.

Wasnt a facelift was it? Woulda took front end off your hands if so :(

Shame too see that like
