hi, geting new thrust bearing put into clutch next week! and need a new gearbox! what gearbox would be the best to go for? ek9 gearbox or an integra type r gearbox! any1 that can help please do. cheers:nice:

ek9 gearbox is the same as your ek4. the itrs has a 4.7 final drive so if it was me i woud get the itr box

No it's not! An EK9 box has a helical LSD and is altogether a better gearbox. The EK9 and DC2 96Spec box are essentially the same and the DC2 98spec has a 4.785 final drive with a different 4th and 5th gear.

since you have an ek4, a switch to a ctr gearbox would give you similar performance in terms of the ratios. however, the ctr and itr are both of higher quality than the ek4 with better lsd, much stronger bearings etc. ctr and 96 spec itr are the same. 98 spec itr has better overall gearing on 1-> 3due to its final drive. hope this is enough to help you make a decision :nice:

if u can get a 98 spec itr gear box and put a 96 itr or civic sir forth gear in and leave the 5th alone for motorway driven

the 98 integra has a 4.785 fd and a longer 4th and 5th gear than the 96. so once higher up the gears they both even out. so the best way to go is a 96 box with the 98 4.785 final drive. but im sure the ek9 box is the same as the 96 itr box for gear ratios so could just buy the fd kit

its up to you, if you race get the b16b box, if its a street car get the 98spec itr box. most people who race hate the gap the 98spec box has from 3rd to 4th...

i agree with bro blinx9900...but if u change 4 gear 1.107 n 5 gear 0.848..u can feel a difference from OEM 98 itr 4.785 gbox...:nice:
