As the tittle says I have bought dc2 camshafts, double valve springs and retainers and am looking to fit these relatively soon, was wondering while the head is off is there anything worth doing and anything I should be carful off or anything to note whilst taking the head off etc. also am thinking buddyclub .5mm head gasket for abit extra compression. Also is there any other further Ecu issues after the swap is complete? Ideally I want to know as much as I can before doing the swap so nothing suprises me and I'm left in the **** haha

Cheers guys

I have tried to read as much dc2 cam swaps as possible

You can change the stem seals at the same time car will run fine once put back togather but could do with a map to get the full gains

I wouldn't use a buddyclub headgasket, have had bad experience with those in the past. Stick with OEM gasket. Skim the head 10thou to bump the CR a little.

Ideally I would skim the head and run standard gasket but I'm not too sure how much it will cost to have a skim :/ I would have done it at college but they won't let me no more haha. Ill see though, has anyone else had trouble with the buddyclub gasket?

Yeah ideally a map would be what is next as standard rev limiter will restrict power but that's next I'm sure :)

Just bought some oem stem seals so that should help, still not sure on head gasket choice though

as said above, car will run fine but ideally you should get it mapped , do the stem seals while your at it and as vtec6000 said skim the head 10 or 20 thou that will raise compression a bit, i would stick with an oem honda gasket too have heard too many bad stories with other gaskets. if your timing belt hasnt ben changed id do that too

Had the belt changed before I bought the car 4months ago so that's alright, yeah ill do stems which should save me some oil lol. I could get it skimmed it isn't a bad idea I'm just not sure on prices and how I'm gonna get the head anywhere without the car lol :/

haha ya that would be a problem alright ha, im sure skimming is cheap enough when it comes to machine work, its the port and polish that costs a bit more so isnt advised to everyone unless you wanna go all out

I recently built a new engine inc a head rebuild. I got the work done by Banda engineering in Portsmouth. Think it was £25 extra for a skim.

In fact I gave them the head and they dip/cleaned it, skimmed, cleaned valves, (disassembled it all). fitted new oem stem seals, ground valves back in, re assembles lma's etc.for £90!

As your local, give them a try.

I went to Banda with my mini cylinder head and took 3 weeks for them to do it. I just took the head off them in the end cause they were useless. They are cheap though which is good, trouble is I would need the head skimmed virtually same day.. :/ good idea there

Will I need to adjust any of the valve clearance when changing the cams?

Ops. Umm would the rocker clearance really change dramatically by just swapping cams over? Not effecting them in any way other than doing the same job of pushing on the rocker? I never touched the rockers when changing the cams?

Another thing I noticed is that the cam sprockets don't actually line up as I thought they would. If I put both points together then the indicated up arrows one is actually not 12oclock position? Which one is correct line the lines up on the cams together or "up"?

The line up of the cams not the up arrows, they will both veer to the left slightly anyways.

Rocker clearance would hardly be affected with teg cams.

Excellent i didn't think they would as I was carful to not even poke em lol, fair ill realign it in abit. Still unsure whether I can get it skimmed, if so how much and what compression ratio will I be able up run on shell nitro?

Shell nitro is good for 12.5:1.

But then it's all in the tune.

12:1 is safe for a road car on pump fuel.

20thou skim and some slightly bigger cams should give you a nice little bump in power.

skim and use OE honda gasket

had a buddyclub gasket **** the bed after a few weeks

Shell Nitro+ is good for 13;0;1 and of course as tahir said, ALL IN THE TUNE.
